I don't like the width of the lower half of my nose, am I candidate for alarplasty? Are there certain methods that would reduce the risk of bad scarring. Being that I am African American, and have oily skin, does that increase the chances of keloids? Do you have any referrals for this procedure on an African American, in the state of Texas? Thanks!
Answer: Reducing the size of your nose an alarplasty is a way to reduce the flare/size of your nostril. It only affect the nostril and not the lower half of your nose. From the picture, it is hard to see what your nose looks like. It may need more than just an alarplatsy. However, an alarplasty can certainly be done with minimal risk of keloid with proper surgical technique and post operative care.

Answer: alar plasty for narrowing wide nostrils And alar plasty will only narrow wide nostrils. It will not narrow the lower half of the nose. narrow the lower half of the nose requires osteotomies placed in the nasal bones and a tip rhinoplasty. Thick skin will be a significant impediment to seeing a very refined result in the nose
