I don't like the width of the lower half of my nose, am I candidate for alarplasty? Are there certain methods that would reduce the risk of bad scarring. Being that I am African American, and have oily skin, does that increase the chances of keloids? Do you have any referrals for this procedure on an African American, in the state of Texas? Thanks!

You should seek out someone with experience in ethnic rhinoplasty as well as a scarring expert to discuss your risk of keloids. As rhinoplasty surgeons, we are able to improve the structure and function of the nose to address specific issues you have with how your nose looks and and how well you can breathe. Perfect symmetry does not exist in nature. Attempts to improve the symmetry of your nose should be aimed at achieving an improvement in your asymmetry to the point where it is no longer very noticeable. From the picture, it is hard to see what your nose looks like. It may need more than just an alarplatsy.
