Out of curiosity, what are the major ways that asian bone structure is different from caucasian bone structure?

Besides having smaller eyes and wider noses, I would like to know characteristics of asian bone structure that are different from that of caucasians. What surgeries can be done to make the asian face look angular? I am interested in changing bone structure and not getting temporary fillers. Also, how are Asian cheekbones different from caucasian cheekbones?

Asian patients have cheekbones and jawlines that are wider. The chin is also taller as well as wider from a frontal view. Whereas the jawline/cheekbone is usually augmented in Caucasian faces, the opposite is usually needed in Asians. Bone from the cheekbone and jaw is shaved down and/or moved inward. This is generally done from inside the mouth.

hello again Jenniferthere is often a bit of a shortened overall height of the chin in Asian patients versus Caucasian but Asian patients tend the have a wider set more angular angle of the mandible giving a somewhat square look in some cases.  the cheek bones tend to be more prominent at their lateral aspect but more flat and recessed anteriorly or on a profile view.If you mean by angular you mean somewhat longer or heart-shaped or oval the chin can be augmented and the angle of mandible and cheek bones reduced in their sharpness and volume typically through the mouth.  In some cases the soft tissues are very generous and their volume in an Asian persons face and this can be reduced with laser assisted liposuction.Chase Lay, MD

There is no difference in Asian bone structure compared to Caucasions. However, there is a difference in contour which can be permanently changed with implants to improve definition. Fillers are easier, but are not typically permanent.
