How Long Does it take to notice the lbs removed after Lipo?

I had lipo 4 weeks ago and was told that they removed 6lbs of Fat. I have now returned to my original weight pre surgery. however should I already notice the 6lbs or does it take longer? How do I know if I gained any of it or if I am still swollen. I had lost 2 lbs last week but it seem to come back.

Liposuction is not a weight loss procedure. It is better to judge the outcome of liposuction by your shape and contour. However, many of our patients are educated on how to maintain a healthy lifestyle which can lead to weight loss. Most of our patients loss weight because of the education and support we provide them and not from the liposuction. When you look good, you also feel good about exercise and healthy lifestyle. Do your homework and consult with a plastic surgeon.

Some patients need really notice lost weight after liposuction.  The way to judge the outcome is by the contours and how your clothing fits.  Some patients notice weight loss at 1 month.  Removing 6 lbs of fat will not necessarily show up on the scale. This is only a 3 liter liposuction (6 lbs) which is not a lot.  Judge the outcome on contours not weight.  The peak swelling is at 6 weeks.  So you will see the swelling improving soon.

I always tell patients to not evaluate the final results of the surgery until 1-3 months postop. Liposuction typically is not an operation which reveals noticeable weight loss. It is common during the first few weeks after liposuction to have swelling which could interfere with primary goal of liposuction is to remove excess fat not a weight-loss procedure.
