I am two weeks post op for lipo of my stomach. After day 3, I started to switch between wearing my surgical compression garment 8hrs a day, and a light compression garment overnight. My surgeon said that I didn't need to continue to wear a garment. However, I feel more comfortable wearing something, especially after reading a lot of the suggestions on this site. But, I want to know honestly if it is still necessary to wear a garment, and will switching between the two types affect my results?

Answer: Compression garment My patients wear the compression garment for a minimum of 6 weeks. The most important time is definitely the first 2 weeks. After that, they wear it for comfort. Switching will not affect the results. You will find that the garment makes your skin feel better for months after surgery.

Answer: Compression garment for how long after liposuction How long a person wears a compression garment after liposuction is very much dependent upon how they are healing. My customary postop recommendations are for people to wear rather tight compression approximately 20 hours a day for the first three weeks and then lighter compression for approximately 12 hours a day for the next three weeks. At two weeks I feel the tissues have not completely healed and therefore would benefit from additional support to not only help create a smooth contour but also help with resolution of any residual swelling.
