8 days Post op upper/lower bleph W/canthopexy. Left eye drooped immediately after surgery. Tape and massage has not helped. Exterior corner has split.
Answer: Lower eyelid ectropion From the photos that you have provided it appears that you have developed lower eyelid ectropion and as a result, the canthoplasty that was performed has failed. I think you should revisit your surgeon so that they can evaluate the current status of your eyelid. Simply repairing the "split" in your eyelid is not going to remedy the other issues that are still developing and will progress as the lid heals.

Answer: This is much more than just a "split" canthus. If this were simply a split in the lateral canthal angle, a lateral canthoplasty could be used to repair this issue. Your lower eyelid also demonstrates ectropion. The lower eyelid bows away from the eye surface. You are vertically and horizontally short in the lower eyelid. Generally further tightening of the eyelid will not properly reposition the eyelid. To avoid using a skin graft, specialized techniques are needed to definitely restore the shape to the eyelid. Each of these surgeries must be customized for a given patient. For that reason, a personal consultation with you would be necessary to determine precisely what you will require to correct this situation.
