It is not unusual to return to work one or two days following your surgery. Depending on the techniques performed, there can be some pain that requires narcotic pain medication. If so, one may wish to hold off on returning to work until medication is no longer necessary. If one is in a job where it would be unlikely that the year be manipulated, and earlier return to work is indicated. If one has a job where there is a serious risk of banging or tugging on the your, it would be wise to wait 3 to 4 weeks.
There are many techniques to correct Otoplasty, which involve reshaping the ear cartilage. The procedure can be done under local or IV sedation. Recovery is very quick and return to work time is only a few days if you don't mine wearing the garment over the ears at work for 5 to 7 days.
Hello dozerdixie1,Thanks for your question. The procedure you are describing is known as an otoplasty, or ear pinning procedure.Depending on your cosmetic goals, there are a few ways to perform the surgery. Getting evaluated by a specialist in facial aesthetic surgery will help determine which method is best for you. Cost will be best determined after you've had a consultation with a surgeon.Initial recovery time is just a few days with long term recovery in 6 months. After surgery, my patients wear a headband to hold the ears in place while the incisions and cartilage heal. You want to avoid tugging on the ears as this may ruin the repair and repositioning of the ear.I hope this was helpful...Dr. Shah
The downtime is typically 5-7 days. You can cover your ears sooner than that with your hairstyle. However, I recommend my patients wear a compression garment 24/7 for the first week. If you are able to work from home you can do so as early as 48 hours after surgery. If you're returning to the office 5-7 days should be fine. There have been myriad otoplasty approaches described. The modern approach does not involve removing or cutting full thickness through the cartilage - this is fraught with problems. The more reliable approach involves shaping your existing cartilage and repositioning it with sutures. See the link below for typical before and after Denver otoplasty photos. I hope this information is helpful for you.Stephen Weber MD, FACSDenver Facial Plastic Surgeon
Various techniques are available to modify the ear. Results may improve with prolonged use of compression. Downtime is one to two days if the patient is willing to return to work with a compressive bandage, scarf, bandana cap etc. Please use this information when consulting in person with Board Certified Plastic Surgeon.

If you have a desk job and don't mind wearing bandages or a ski cap to work, you could return as soon as you were off your narcotics and with minimal pain. This varies considerably by individual so lets just say you could return to work if you were up to it.
An otoplasty is generally well tolerated. The incision are behind the ear and well hidden. You will have some swelling of the outer ear for several days but you should be able to return to desk work within 5 to 7 days.
Most patients take a week off from work after an otoplasty procedure. Women with long hair can cover the ears, so they usually go back to work sooner because the bruising and swelling around the ears usually lasts approximately 2 weeks
There doesn't appear to be any infection but that can be hard to definitively diagnose with photos. Not sure what could have caused thinning of the tissue behind your ear. Many otoplasty surgeons will thin tissue on the back of the bowl of the ear to allow it to set back properly but very few...
None of the doctors answering this question have encountered patients who experience anything but mild pain. The ear is rather insensitive and easily anesthesized with local anesthesia. Unless there is inadequate local anesthesia it is hard to imagine how otoplasty would be painful. It would be...
Costs of otoplasty surgery will vary from one practice to another and certainly from one country to another. My best suggestion: seek consultation with well experienced plastic surgeons who can demonstrate a lot of experience achieving the types of outcomes you will be pleased with. You may find...
