Did I get an infection from my otoplasty?

Question

This was just a bad otoplasty surgery and experience all together. But what I am most concerned about is if my stitches are infected? I believe the dark dots on the back of my ears are the stitches. In between the stitches the skin is very thin, like it would easily rip. This doctor had absolutely no idea what he was doing and I do not want to go back to him. Does anyone know what caused this? Should I go to a different surgeon? Please help.

There doesn't appear to be any infection but that can be hard to definitively diagnose with photos. Not sure what could have caused thinning of the tissue behind your ear. Many otoplasty surgeons will thin tissue on the back of the bowl of the ear to allow it to set back properly but very few actually remove full thickness sections of cartilage. It sounds like you should seek a second opinion given that you had a very bad experience with your procedure. There is no evidence of infection.  Marks could even be from surgical marker. If that is the case these will go away. Go back to your own surgeon for clarification. No reason to go elsewhere.
