Does CoolSculpting not work on everyone?

Whenever you have a procedure whose results are gradual, such as CoolSculpting, it’s important to take “Before” photos and measurements. You can’t necessarily see the changes day to day, because it takes months before you get your final results. Also, since you already had your abs treated, you might not have that much more fat to remove. Remember that CoolSculpting benefits are measured in inches lost, not pounds lost. It’s a body-contouring procedure. I’ve never encountered a case where CoolSculpting worked for someone and then ceased to, even when they still had a layer of treatable fat. It’s possible that much of the remainder of your abdominal fat is visceral, meaning inside, near the intestines, and therefore not reachable with CoolSculpting. Please return to your provider to review photos and discuss your results. If you don’t receive a satisfactory answer, please find a board-certified dermatologist whenever you need CoolSculpting to ensure the best results.

The results from CoolSculpting can vary from patient to patient. Given that the practitioner is using the proper application, patients should experience 20-25% reduction of fat in the treated area. Sometimes more! Here are a couple things to consider:* Because you had already had an excellent result from your first CoolSculpting treatment on the abdomen, there was less fat in the area. So, it's logical to think that 25% reduction in fat from an area that had less fat to begin with would be a less dramatic change than the initial treatment. *How long has it been since your second CoolSculpting treatment?  A fair amount of patients experience a delayed result, with their final result being at about 6 months post-treatment, as opposed to the average 3-4 months. This can even be true for someone who was a rapid or average responder with their initial treatment.*Have you reviewed your before and after photos with your practitioner? As many of the commenters have stated, often time patients don't think they've had a result until they see their before and after photos side by side. Because it is a gradual process, patients often forget what they started with! I hope this helps!

This can and does happen after previous sessions of Coolsculpting. If there was truly 'pinchable' fat in the abdomen region, then you were a candidate for the second round of treatment. But - as is the case for all medical treatments out there - there is just not a 100% response. I would suggest you go back to the treating office and get some photos taken to objectively 'see' any changes that may have taken place.

Great question! We have many patients who think that they have no result after CoolSculpting. However, when we place the before and after pictures side by side, patients can see the difference. CoolSculpting works gradually and seeing yourself daily often does not allow you the satisfaction of seeing the results. I recommend a photo review. Best of luck!

Coolsculpting is not a weight loss procedure. It will remove stubborn areas of fat that can not be improved with diet and exercise alone. Coolsculpting needs a combination approach to get the most improvement and may need re-treatments to get desired results. For best results, I recommend adding radiofrequency treatments like Vanquish, Venus Legacy, Exilis Ultra for skin tightening and with Z wave/Cellutone for skin smoothing. Hi and thank you for your question! We tell almost all of our patients to plan on doing two treatments, at the minimum. We recommend 6-8 weeks apart, and then final results come around 3-4 months after the final treatment. Some patients even want/need a 3rd to fine tune/maximize results. Its also possible you may need more "cycles" per area. This is determined by the provider at the time of consultation. We also take detailed before and after photos from various angles, hopefully in the same underwear and bra etc. Also, with arms our of the way and with your stomach relaxed. That's truly the only way to fairly assess the final changes.That said, I would recommend you return to the office for follow up photos and consider a second treatment session. Also, have them reassess you to be sure you received enough cycles in the area. We inform all of our patients that with any non-surgical procedures, there are always variations in individual responses, and there is always a small percentage of "non-responders", that for whatever reason, do not get the same or any results. However, this is very rare and unlikely if the patient is treated appropriately. Also, we are seeing better results than ever since we added Alastin's Transform Body Treatment to their pre/ during and post treatment regime! Some individuals experience amazing results with CoolSculpting and some individuals feel disappointed. Two of the biggest influences on your results is 1) if you are a good candidate for CoolSculpting and 2. How many treatments you receive. The fact that you lost a few inches after one session is very impressive. Most patients require several sessions to achieve their desired aesthetic. You may need additional sessions on your abdominal area to see further fat reduction.

Hi! Coolsculpting typically removes 20-25% of the fat with each treatment, however; that can vary per individual. Also, the more treatments you have, the less fat there is to be treated. Because of that, the results may not be as dramatic with subsequent treatments. Before and after photos are beneficial to review 3-4 months after your treatment. Your body processes the fat slowly over the course of months, so it can be difficult to see the change, which is why photos are helpful.

It is quite possible that after your 'rock star' result from your first treatment, that you did not have much subcutaneous fat left in the zone to be treated. CoolSculpting is specifically a fat lipolysis modality, it is not a skin tightening or muscle building device.  Your first treatment with CoolSculpting will most often be the most dramatic response simply because it is the bulk of your fat being treated.
