What is the most common size used for butt implants?

That pretty much depends on the size of your msucle, since they will have to be subfascial. Should somebody recommend you subfascial......RUN !

Butt implants range in size from very small (100+ cc) to the largest of 712 cc. The most common sizes fall in the range of 360 cc to 580 cc. While placing smaller implants is technically easier and does result in fewer complications, the truth is that most patients are not interested in buttock implants smaller than 300 cc in the vast majority of cases. In fact, most patients want to push their anatomic limits with implants larger than 400cc.Consult with a board certified plastic surgeon who will be able to evaluate your body shape, understand your goals and help you select the implant size that fits your anatomy.

In my practice, the most commonly used buttock implants size is a 9 or a 10.  A size 9 is 455cc and a 10 is 548. Of course, this is a very general answer, as patients differ in their desired outcome and their anatomy can also limit the appropriate implant sizes. Just like in breast augmentation, the width of the implant must be smaller than the the width of the gluteus maximus muscle. Other than placing buttock implants within the gluteus maximus muscle (aka “intramuscular”) NOT “subfascial”, the most important factors in creating the perfect derriere and/or hourglass figure with implants is indeed selecting the right size AND shape. I have found the best way to assure this is to simply measure the actual dimensions of the patient’s buttock cheeks and quantity and quality/density of the underlying gluteus muscles. With these anatomical measurements, I can select an implant that not only significantly augments the buttock but also supplies the correct 3-dimensional enhancement to look as real as possible...even in the most petite patients. Note, height and weight are considered but not nearly as relevant as the above measurements. Long story short, about 95% of the population has an oval buttock muscle shape.  Thus symmetric oval implants (i.e. Stanton Anatomic buttock implants) suit most patients best. Glad to be of help.

The size of your buttock implant will depend on your height weight and width. It will be different for everyone. Be sure to choose a board certified plastic surgeon that specializes in this procedure and is well known for it. 

The normal range of buttock implant sizes depends on what tissue pocket is being used. For intramuscular buttock implant sizes, the typical range is between 300cc to 400ccs. For subfascial placement size ranges are increased, which is why they choose this pocket location, and are in the 450cc to 650cc range. (albeit with much higher complication rates)
