How easily can butt implants shift?

I always dissect the pocket for the implant, so that the pocket is just barely large enough to accommodate the implant.  This allows for less freedom of movement. The shifting of your implants may be due to a pocket size larger than required for the implants, or if your implants were placed over the muscle, they are more likely to shift than the ones in/below the gluteal muscles. Follow your PS's post operative protocol regarding sitting on your implants for the first six weeks.  Sitting on the butt check can cause implant malposition.

Thank you for your question regarding how easily buttock implants can shift. In general, it is rare that buttock implants shift. Usually, buttock implants are placed in the buttock muscle or underneath the buttock muscle. If the buttock implants are placed above the buttock muscle,  there is a higher chance of the buttock implant slipping. Also, if your buttock is large and a small buttock  implant is chosen and placed on top of the buttock muscle,  the buttock implant has a higher chance of shifting. Slight body motions like putting weight on the buttock, wearing tight pants can cause shifting and moving of the buttock implants, especially in the first 3 weeks. Buttock implants can move even up to 3 months after the procedure. The risk of implant movement does decrease over time because the body develops scar tissue around the buttock implant and prohibits buttock implant migration. In my opinion, I believe buttock implants should not shift after  approximately 2-3 months. If properly placed, its relatively difficult to displace your buttock implants. Please be sure to choose a board certified plastic surgeon who specializes in this procedure and is well know for it.

It would be highly dependent on whether the implant is placed inside the muscle or on top of it. If it is placed inside the muscle there is not space for it to shift early or late after surgery. But on top of the muscle is a different story where the pocket is not as tight and over time the possibility of implant malposition is possible. It is not common but still possible.
