If I cancel my surgery, would my surgeon be too mad at me to give me the breast augmentation the following Feb?

Different doctors have different protocols for handling cancellations or postponements. .  I would suggest that you call your plastic surgeon and ask him how he wants to handle it.  It certainly sounds like you have legitimate reasons and have given enough notice that he should work with you on rescheduling.  Where we get irritated is when patients cancel only a few days in advance of their surgery.  

Each PS office has a policy which outlines fees associated with scheduling, rescheduling, and cancelling surgery.  Because rescheduling /cancellation of surgery usually results in last-minute openings on the surgery schedule that do NOT get re-filled due to lead-times required in scheduling other patients to fill the vacated time slots, patients should notify the PS of their inability to keep the allocated time slot ASAP.  The earlier the notification of cancelling surgery, the better your chances of having the fees already paid applied to your rescheduled date. Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeryLos Angeles, CA

Thank you for sharing your question. Though each practice is different I can not imagine that your surgeon would not be understanding of your issues and willing to work with you to reschedule your procedure.  

 I’m sorry to hear about your loss.  Each physician has some form of cancellation policy And are usually very accommodating, especially in circumstances such as this. Please discuss your unique situation with your surgeons office.

Most surgeons would respect your decision and the sooner you contact your PS the more understanding your PS will be. 

I am sorry to hear of your loss. With your recent financial situation and especially your rash requiring steroids, postponing the surgery is the thing to do. I am sure that if you explain your situation to the surgeon he or she would understand. Best to you.Dr. Z

I would cancel and any surgeon who would NOT understand your particular circumstances is someone I would not go to.Blessings.

I cannot speak for your surgeon but I think that given the extenuating circumstances most plastic surgeons would be understanding and work with you to reschedule your surgery.
