My mcv is at 68, would my breast augmentation be canceled?

My blood work has return. I also have thalssemia trait as well as being anemic.. waiting to talk with my surgeon tomorrow but want to get an idea from other out there.

MCFs ranging between 80-96 fL/red cell in adults are considered normal. A MCV lower than 80 indicates red blood cells are too small and cannot take in as much hemoglobin as they should. I appreciate your concern. The MCV value is not enough to draw a conclusion on whether surgery can move forward or not. A more important value would be actually be the hemoglobign or hematocrit level. These values tell us if you ahev enough red blood cells to safely undergo an operation. Speak with your surgeon and good luck on your breast implant operation.Dr. ALDO
