I had a submuscular augmentation about 12 weeks ago. When I went in for my 6 week post op, I noticed my breasts are severely uneven. My surgeon didn't seem too concerned and had me add a new movement to my breast massage. I'm still not seeing any shift and am starting to get really concerned I will need a revision. My left breast(sitting higher) is slightly more firm than the right. I'm trying to be patient to but I'm really worried I'm going to need a revision.
Answer: Uneven breasts 12 weeks post BAM Hi Kadi,It sounds like you may be developing a capsular contracture around the left breast. You should follow the instructions of your surgeon as it sounds like he/she is trying to get you to massage one of the breasts more to relieve it. At this point, there is not a lot you can do, other than massage and wear a good support bra, with less tension on the left side. The left may fall more in the future, so do not panic just yet!Continue to visit with your surgeon and voice your concerns, but time will tell for now.Best,Dr. Christine Rodgers

Answer: Uneven dropping of implants 12 weeks post BA. Will I need a revision and if so, what type? Hi there, Thank you for your question. From your photos it is apparent that your left breast is sitting higher vs. right in your before and after photos. Massage can help this to come down, massage does take time. If this is an early capsular contracture you can help to resolve it with massage, if massage doesn't work a revision is in order. Follow your surgeon's recommendations for best results. Best, realdrsix

Answer: Uneven dropping of implants 12 weeks post BA. Will I need a revision and if so, what type? Based on your photo you do seem to be developing a capsular contracture. Usually a revision should take place only after 3 months to make sure your body has healed enough. If a revision is done sooner then it could cause complications that may be more dangerous and would cause delayed tissue healing. Consult with your surgeon as soon as possible.

Answer: Capsular contracture It looks as if you are most probably developing capsular contracture on your left side. I would suggest that you wait another 3 months for your breasts to completely heal before considering revision surgery.

Answer: Capsular Contracture after Breast Augmentation Hi, Kadi5390. I am sorry to hear that you are having issues following your breast augmentation. Looking at the progress from POD #1 to now, it appears that you are developing a capsular contracture on the left side. This contracture is causing the implant to be more compressed, narrowed, and elevated and will certainly result in firmness. At 4 months, it is more difficult to reverse the amount of constriction that you are experiencing with conservative treatment. If there is still reasonable mobility of the implant, massage may still have some impact. While it is safe to undergo a revision at this time, in my opinion, and unless you are having complications, it is helpful to give additional time for allow of the post-operative swelling and inflammation to resolve for a more successful revision surgery. This additional time will also help you to more comfortably determine whether you are likely to show any improvement. I hope you ultimately achieve fantastic results! Best of luck.
