I never had surgery before however I had silicone 1000 from a previous doctor and don’t love it. It made my nose look wider. Can I still get a rhinoplasty or is it unsafe? Please let me know thank you
Answer: Rhinoplasty surgery may be considered after receiving Silikon 1000 injections to the nose. In our practice, we specialize in both rhinoplasty surgery and permanent nonsurgical nose job treatments with microdroplet Silikon 1000. We have operated on patients after injecting Silikon 1000, and it does not make surgery more difficult. The reason for this is that the filler is placed in the soft tissue in between the skin and the nasal skeleton. The dissection of surgery is deep to the soft tissue, onto the cartilage and bone of the nose. Although the Silikon 1000 may not be removed, rhinoplasty surgery for achieving a narrow nasal appearance may be considered, depending on your examination. Thank you so much for your question and I hope this helps. Sincerely, Dr. Joseph

Answer: Surgery after Silicon 1000... It is perfectly safe to perform rhinoplasty after having silicon 1000 placed. The bone and cartilage can still be reshaped and supported. The silicone can make the skin a little thicker, which cannot be changed, but the overall shape can be made better. Be sure to see a rhinoplasty specialist for consultation.

Answer: May be a good idea In general, Silicone is not good for injections into the face. It should be possible to do a rhinoplasty and possibly to remove much of the injected silicone. That could help your appearance and make you better for the long term.

Answer: Surgery after injected silicon Personally, I would be apprehensive about doing surgery in the same area. Somebody had previously injected silicone. Injected silicone can cause undesirable chronic inflammatory conditions and we don’t really know what sets it off or what keeps it stable. I suggest having multiple in person consultations with plastic surgeons in your area to find what each one has to say. Always make sure you disclose all pertinent past medical history. Best, Mats Hagström MD
