Navel pain after abdominal Lipo? (photos)

Question

I had lipo surgery 2 weeks ago. The DR I chose wasn't board certified & had a blood transfusion. I'm going to make an appt with another plastic surgeon who's certified. My question is as follows: why am I having navel pain after surgery? I realize that there's trauma to the surgery site but it is so severe that I can't stand up straight (feels like my abs are ripping apart on the right side) & there's a bulge near my navel not noticeable with the naked eye. Any ideas before I see a professional?

Without examining you- it is difficult to comment accurately. Even though some discomfort is expected-- what you're describing doesn't sound normal. Seek an experienced Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and schedule an in person exam. You can check if your surgeon is BC through an American Board of Plastic Surgery.

some discomfort is expected; your situation seems unusual.  You may have a rectus sheath hematoma or a hernia--had to tell with limited info and no in-person exam.  You should see a BCBP asap.   You may need an ultrasound and/or other radiological studies.  good luck

While pain is normal following liposuction, the degree of pain you are experiencing isn't normal. You should make an appointment as soon as possible with a board certified plastic surgeon for an in-person evaluation. This degree of pain is not normal.   See a board certified surgeon.  (Am  Bd of Plastic Surgery certified).  Blood transfusion is a very very rare event.  Not sure why you needed that.  Steroid injections about the site may help you.  Take good care and see another surgeon....My Best,  Dr C
