What are these extra skin bags under my lips and how can I get rid of it? (Photos)

Hello, my lips have extra bags of skin beneath them. I tried googling to see if I could find someone experiencing the same issue, but came up with nothing, so I have provided pictures to explain the issue I am seeing with a visual aid. With my face resting I have extra tissue below my bottom lip, but it’s not extremely noticeable. However, these two extra (bag of fat I guess?) become extremely noticeable when I smile. I am wondering why my bottom lip has these bags under them and what I can do to correct this issue. Thanks in advance!

Thank you for sharing your excellent question.  Nothing replaces an in-person examination but these are typically areas of muscle and not fat and do not require treatment.  As the area is aesthetically concerning, I would recommend careful placement of dermal filler around the areas of fullness to help smooth the appearance.  Hope this helps.

It is impossible to know if your under lip 'bags'/fullness is due to fat or muscle. But either way it can only be removed by direct excision using the vermlion-cutaneous junction as the incision location.
