I’m on blood thinners and my specialist said that there is no need to see her I’m healing. I want a BBL and Tummy tuck with a breast augmentation.

Your PS should know all of your risk factors for blood clots, be able to stratify your risk, and manage you accordingly. If you are a patient who is high risk for blood clots, you may want to consider if you want to do the surgery. The main risk is related to development of a blood clot in the legs, which you already have, that can then migrate to the lungs. Sitting for long periods of time puts you at higher risk due to being stationary.

If you’re currently unplug dinners and still have a blood clot then you should not have elective surgery. I think it’s unlikely any plastic surgeon would recommend having surgery at this time.

The risk for developing more blood clots is time dependent and will decrease with time. At a minimum the clock needs to be resolved completely and you need to be off blood thinners.

It’s possible you may need some blood thinners during and after surgery to minimize the chance of forming another blood clot.

It is your hematologist or internist who will decide if it’s appropriate and when it’s appropriate to have surgery in regards to your blood clot.

You will need medical clearance for your surgery and the doctor managing your clot can help you with that.

You can still have consultations to find out if you’re a good candidate and work on finding the best plastic surgeon for you while you’re waiting for your clock to resolve and become medically cleared for the procedure.

You are at increased risk for future blood clots because of your history. A blood clot that breaks loose and go to the lung is called a pulmonary embolism. These are often fatal.

Cosmetic surgery should first and foremost be as safe as possible.
