Can I get a Lipo 360 and BBL if I have discoid lupus that is not systemic and only limited to my skin?

Hello, thank you for your question. It depends upon the severity of your lupus. Your rheumatologist and primary care doctors need to discuss this with the plastic surgeon to determine if you should have the surgery.

The fact that a sales person was giving you medical advice should be a red flag that this may not be the most appropriate place for you to get your procedure.

I suggest excluding clinics where you don’t initially consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon.

In the end it’s highly likely any plastic surgeon will want to get medical clearance from your rheumatologist.

If you have an asked your rheumatologist if they think it’s appropriate for you to get elective surgery then you should.

While plastic surgeons have some of the longest medical training of any profession(minimum 10 years after college) We didn’t train in rheumatology and most plastic surgeons are not trained to understand the implication of this disease on each individual patient.

I suggest scheduling several in person consultations with local board-certified plastic surgeons are willing to see you in person.
