Dear Intuitive911,fat viability depends a lot of surgeon technique. The fat has to be placed back into the buttocks as soon as possible so that it has a greater chance of survival. It has to be placed carefully so that not too much fat is placed in only one area. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
Hello darlingNo, nobody rejects their own fat. You can get the procedure safely. Hope this helps,Dr. Luis Mejia
Your body does not reject your own fat. At about six weeks, 50% of the fat transferred has an established blood supply and is viable.
Your body will not reject your own fat from a fat transfer procedure. When the Fed is removed through Liposuction it loses its blood supply. In order for the fat to survive through a fat transfer procedure those blood cells need to reestablish a new blood supply in order to survive.Typically only some of the Fat cells survive this procedure. The loss of grafted fat is typically not seen as fat rejected but rather fat that didn’t survive the physical and physiological challenges of tissue transfer.Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
