I'm not at an ideal weight, but I've been dieting and exercising. However, I really want chin lipo now. Can I? Or do I wait? I've always been a curvier gal and I don't have plans to be stick skinny, ever. So the wait I'm losing, will still leave me with face fullness that I've had my whole life. I really want to get this procedure done now in hopes of it boosting my confidence and continue to stay motivated. Will my results continue to improve over time if I do this procedure sooner or later?
Answer: Chin Liposuction and Overall Body Weight In my opinion, the chin/neck area is the one area where you do NOT need to be at an "ideal" weight for liposuction. You can achieve great results in this area whether you are at a stable weight, or working to lose weight. I recommend doing Ultherapy treatment with the liposuction procedure for almost all of my young female patients. It really helps to tighten and define the jawline. Make sure that you go to a surgical dermatologist or plastic surgeon with expertise in this procedure. I also recommend consulting with a surgeon who has all of the options (both surgical and non-surgical) available for removing unwanted fat.

Answer: Chin liposuction Dear jillrotset, it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. Based on your photos, it looks like you would benefit from chin liposuction. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: Chin liposuction results when not at my ideal body weight The limited photograph demonstrates significant fat deposits in the neck which are going to be located above AND below the platysma muscle in the neck. Liposuction can only remove the fat deposits above the muscle, which will give you only minimal benefit. A surgical neck lift is going to be required to remove the fat deposits below the platysma muscle in addition to liposuction which removes fat deposits above the muscle. A platysma-plasty is also performed which significantly improves the jawline. No skin removal is required as long as your less than 50 years of age and an excellent skintone. Always best to lose the weight first, and have a BMI of less than 32 for best surgical results in the neck.

Answer: Chin and neck liposuction and overweight patients My personal first-hand experience has been that chin and neck Liposuction on patients who are overweight give some of the most impressive and dramatic results of anyone. This is especially true for young patients who are overweight. With weight loss the results typically continue to improve and just look better and better. If someone is morbidly obese meaning that there are over 100 pounds above their ideal weight than potentially a plastic surgeon may want to be slightly cautious or conservative in the amount of fat they remove in order to not have the area look over treated if the patient loses a dramatic amount of weight in the future. In reality this often doesn’t become an issue unless someone is inexperienced and or uses very aggressive power or energy-based equipment removing more fat than they should in the first place. Your single picture does not allow us to make a good assessment. For us to make an assessment you should have standard photographs taken by someone else or using the timer on your camera from the front and both sides without facial expression. Based on what you’ve posted I would say steps to the front of the line and consider getting chin and neck Liposuction sooner rather than later. If done correctly you’ll be glad you did and wish you did it sooner. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
