Chin implant lump 7 months after surgery. What could be causing this?

Implants tend to be unpredictable and your body will create a capsule and scar tissue around the implant when it heals. Implants have to wrap around the side of your chin in order for your chin to appear flush with your jawline. If the implant was placed through the mouth, there is potential for the implant to slide or curl up. Unfortunately to fix problems with implants they usually have to be removed and then you are back at square one. I would recommend doing some research into a genioplasty. This is a chin augmentation (and a more permanent solution) that does not involve any implants. It is common for implants to be removed and for a genioplasty to be done instead. I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what is wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice.

It is possible that this is a scar around implant. One can not exclude displacement of implant, in particular lateral implant extensions. Only on the basis of in-person evaluation a surgeon could give you more meaningful answer. Good luck.

It would be helpful to get a CT to make sure the implant is in the proper position. The further away from the initial surgery the less likely that it is anything serious. Infections usually occur closer to the date of surgery.
