One doctor said an implant with some neck suctioning would be just the thing and that the jowls would be improved by the implant. The second said that an implant would exacerbate the jowls and make them more noticeable and that what was really needed was a face lift (that little overall improvement in appearance would come from an implant). So now I'm really confused! How do I figure out what to do?

Answer: How will a chin implant affect my jowls The only way to address the jowls is with a facelift to re-suspend them back into the cheek area. This is done with a combination of tightening the facial muscles and skin. The pre-jowl sulcus present along the jawline can be addressed with a chin implant as a stand-alone procedure or with a chin implant in combination with a facelift.

Answer: Chin Implant and Jowls It is hard to say from looking at a single picture, but if you are over 45 I would say the chin result will be great but the jowl result will be minimal. They make prejowl implants to improve this area but I am not a fan of them. If you have jowling, the only reliable treatment is a facelift. I performed 90 facelifts last year and about 20% of these patients do chin implants at the same t i me for the best treatment.Joe Niamtu, III DMDCosmetic Facial SurgeryRichmond, Virginia
