I've had lipo on my flanks during a hernia surgery about 2 years ago. I'm still pleased with the results. I am now 50 yrs old and plan on getting Lipo on my upper/lower abs, inner thighs, chin, and above armpit area. My q's 1) Is it safe to have lipo done with hernia mesh? 2) I have a trip 28 days after the surgery is that enough time to recover? 3) Can you recommend any compression garments only issue the last time was bandaging gave me a rash. Any tips to speed healing? Thanks
Answer: Postoperative protocol Dear Generous207395, I understand your concern. It is best that you consult your plastic surgeon regarding post operative care and management (i.e including massage techniques and timing) specific to your case. Your surgeon knows your condition well and has preferences on when and what to use for faster healing and recovery. Post operative care and management depends on the type of surgery performed and the technique used during surgery among other factors. It is best, however, that you follow your plastic surgeon's advice on post operative care management for a smooth and faster healing and recovery. Answer: Lipo tips & recovery? Liposuction recovery varies, so always follow your surgeon’s advice. Expect swelling, bruising, and discomfort initially. Wear compression garments as directed, avoid strenuous activities, and take prescribed medications. Stay hydrated, eat a balanced diet, and attend follow-up appointments. If you have specific concerns, consult your surgeon for guidance.

Answer: Getting Liposuction Delivering consistent quality liposuction results is more difficult than most people including plastic surgeons believe. Typically age has a negative influence on quality results because skin laxity is increased from the loss of skin elasticity. The most important valuable is finding the most experienced and talented provider for the procedure. To do that I suggest having multiple in person consultations with local board-certified plastic surgeons who seem to have a lot of Liposuction experience. During consultations ask each provider to show their entire collection of before and after pictures of the areas you’re interested in having treated. An experience provider should have no difficulty showing you a minimum of 50 sets of before and after pictures. Highly experienced providers will have hundreds or even thousands. Simply seeing a few pre-selected sample pictures which most likely represent the best results of the providers career is insufficient to get a clear understanding or what average results look like in the hands of each provider. You should ask the provider to show as many before and after pictures of patients with similar body chardoeristics to your own including see examples of excellent outcomes, average outcomes and less than outcomes. I recommend reading all reviews on various position review websites avoiding providers with any significant number of justified negative reviews. The absence of justified negative reviews is more important and more telling than having an abundance of positive reviews. Continue having in person consultations until you feel quite certain you find the most talented and experience provider then follow their recommendations. Most providers will supply compression garments including instructions on how to use them. Inner thigh Liposuction tends to deliver results that are less than what patients at home for and it’s also an area that can be technically difficult to treat without leaving contour irregularities especially by providers lacking experience. Find the right plastic surgeon and everything falls into place. Results from Liposuction are permanent and irreversible. Having abdominal mesh is typically not an issue but each plastic surgeon will have their own view on this. Ask eat provider during consultations. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
