How to improve white scar after small facelift? (Photos)

Question

I had a small facelift following weightloss and it left me with a white scar (plus pixie ear deformity on one side). I gained and lost a large amount of weight again (pregnancy) so another lift would not be terrible. Would this help address the problem? I am planning on doing hair grafts on the top scar but unsure on what to do on the lower side.

Plastic surgery scars require attention after surgery so that they remain cosmetically-appealing and barely noticeable. In our office, we use a protocol for scars that minimizes their activity in the 6-8 weeks after surgery. If you have late plastic surgery scars, you may also require laser and RF therapy to help reduce the longterm effects of the scarring. Keloids, hypertrophic scars, widened scars, red scars, and hyperpigmented scars all require scar modulation with topical creams followed by lasers and RF therapy. Topical skincare should be directed to a specific need, whether for pigmentation or hypertrophy and our office can guide you through the process to obtain the correct Plato’s Scar cream or Melarase cream for hypertrophy and discoloration. In terms of lasers, we would employ the vbeam laser for redness, Venus Viva RF, PRP microneedling, chemical peels, and Morpheus 8, fractional erbium, or fractional co2. All of these have their individual benefits. Most of all, we recommend you visit a solid plastic surgeon who understands surgical scar revision, laser therapy, and RF therapy for scars.

a second facelift may be able to improve the appearance of your white scar and pixie ear deformity. However, it is important to keep in mind that scar tissue can be unpredictable, and there is a risk that a second surgery may not fully correct the issue or could potentially make it worse.

Before considering a second facelift, it is important to consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon who has experience in revision facelifts. They can evaluate your unique situation, discuss your goals and expectations, and recommend the most appropriate treatment plan for you.

In terms of the hair grafts on the top scar, this can be a good option to help camouflage the scar and improve its appearance. For the lower side, your plastic surgeon may recommend a combination of surgical techniques, such as skin excision or tissue rearrangement, to address the scar and achieve the best possible outcome.
