I did a great deal of research before deciding to proceed with a BEARD to SCALP Hair Transplant and an equally extensive amount of research in selecting which Clinic and Doctor to go with. I spent hours on Google, looking at the cost of procedures in the US, Canada, UK, Turkey and Thailand along with Client Reviews of the top Hair Restoration Practitioners in each respective location. Ultimately, I chose Dr. Kulakarn Amonpattana of BHI Clinic in Bangkok. The cost of the various services offered by BHI Clinic are competitive and the Client Ratings for Dr. Kulakarn and her Staff are consistently at the highest level. I should also offer that not only is Dr. Kulakarn viewed as someone at the forefront of her Industry but she is also frequently asked to speak at International Conferences and Symposia regarding state-of-the-art advancements in Hair Restoration Technology. In other words, she is viewed by her peers as a Subject Matter Expert in her field. Prior to, during and subsequent to my Procedure, every question I had was answered quickly, clearly and completely. While the entire Team at BHI Clinic were noteworthy in their professionalism, I would also like to single out BEE who handled each of my follow-up sessions with exceptional service and attentiveness. As a United States Air Force Medic, I know good medical practice and she is by far one of the best hair surgeons in the world, if not the best. Totally natural results! Direction and placement are absolutely perfect! I can't even tell I’ve had any hair restoration!

As I pen this review I am 9 days post surgery and my journey to this point has been long and vastly researched so allow me to share my thoughts
I am caucasian Australian with light brown hair and am 60 years of age. For many men we will consider hair replacement for many reasons that are personal to each of us. My hair loss has been gradual since my twenties and I've forever had the taunting words of my mother as a child saying 'you're going to be bald like your father' resound in my mind. Whilst her words were to become true to some extent the emotional scar as a child was profound and has for me been an Achilles heel throughout my life where I have always been self conscious of my thinning hair.
I am fortunate that in my life I have achieved reasonable success so price was not nor never a consideration in choosing location or Doctor. For me it was the result and the confidence in the Doctor I was to ultimately select. I am proud to say I 100% arrived at the correct decision.
I have studied and researched doctors and clinics right throughout the world for over 10 years and clearly to anyone who now embarks on the journey or hair restoration they will discover the industry has spiralled in Turkey which appears very much to have become the epicentre. I cant help but also draw the conclusion it is a money making machine and somewhat of a sausage mill approach. The successes and many failures can be researched independently however I cannot comment further as I chose a different path. That said I have personally witnessed some fairly ordinary and very obvious transplant looking results - you can spot them a mile away when you know what your looking for. If that was the expected outcome for me I would never undertake this journey and would simply put up with my typical Anglo Saxon balding scalp.
Some years ago I came across Dr Kulakarn Amonpattana in Thailand, almost be chance by reading the words of one of her reviewers from New Zealand who I also engaged in dialogue with via RS and privately. Whilst the review itself was not detailed something connected within me and probably also the reason why I choose now to post in detail my experience.
This doctor's credentials and training were world class. Board certified with the American Institute of Hair restoration, an accredited plastic surgeon and although not being a promoter within the mainstream marketing of hair restoration with numerous reviews (often prompted) she soon became my first choice. By the way I have not been asked once to provide this review.
I engaged in several emails and originally booked early 2020 but then Covid came along and shut borders and the world.
Recently freeing myself from my normal business life I finally had the time to devote to myself so booked my three week stay in Bangkok as I wanted to heal properly before returning home.
Dr Kulakarn and her assistant Dr Wunny met with me on Monday the 6th November at their BHI clinic attached to Vejthani Hospital in Bang Kapi Thailand. The hospital and clinic from the very first impression was 5 star hotel standard- immaculately clean and professional
Both doctors are fluent in English and after an initial discussion re donor site harvest and density outcomes I opted for a combination FUE / FUT procedure over 2 days separated by a day of rest in between.
Dr Kulakarn arranged a room for me to stay within 111 Residence within the hospital that I would totally recommend for the convenience and direct access to BHI Clinic and all hospital facilities. Whilst the rooms were basic they were clean and comfortable.
From the outset the care and attention was world class and exceeded my expectations on every level. I arrived at 8.00 am on the Tuesday for the first procedure being the FUE. An entire team of 6 assistants plus the two doctors devoted themselves entirely to my procedure throughout the day which lasted over 12 hours with only a short 20 minute lunch break. I felt no pain nor had cause for any concerns.
Dr Kulakarn and her team were successful in harvesting and transplanting 3640 grafts. Whilst already not totally bald and with still some hair on top I also wanted a realistic hair line of a mature aged man with normal recession at the sides but with full density all over. This goal was appreciated by both doctors as being a realistic and a highly deliverable result - albeit with the proviso of suitable donor harvest that is only fully determined in procedure.
The first day was therefore decided to concentrate on the FUE transplant in the highly visible frontal areas that after procedure I could see mirrored my natural hairline of my younger self perfectly. The donor area appeared virtually unscathed and I was actually pleasantly surprised at how little post surgical trauma was evident. A section of untouched donor area was left totally intact for the following procedure of the FUT
The second procedure was the FUT - move invasive with the excision of strips of tissue from the side rear areas of the scalp. Whilst I was advised this would obviously leave a scar it would be well hidden under the regrown hair. The procedure again was painless and the care throughout just outstanding. I even had assistants massaging my legs from time to time as I was head down on the table for another 12 hour plus day. The same team were completely involved in the excision, dissection of the grafts and then the two doctors performing in tandem the insertion of the grafts this time within the top and crown areas. Now 9 days post and the stitches removed I can confidently see the skill of Dr Kulakarn also from her Plastic surgery training in the fine stitch work and limited scar I will have.
I stayed in the hospital accomodation another two days prior to relocating to Pathumwan Princess Hotel where DR Kulakarn has a convenient post treatment pop up clinic on the 6th floor. This hotel is downtown Bangkok right next to MBK Centre and Paragon Siam so a brilliant location to concentrate on the recovery with a little bit of 5 star luxury to enjoy.
Every day I was treated to first class post operative care, very gentle washing and the process of scab removal as the healing undertook its path. Light therapy that assisted healing and also stimulates the transplanted hair growth. All of this additional care was inclusive - it was never rushed nor hurried and I felt just as important to the team each and every day I arrived. Some days I also opted for the return journey to the Vejthani Hospital Clinic location as I had connected with the amazing staff and felt like a VIP client in every contact
Again if time allows I would totally recommend the longer stay particularly with a combined FUE / FUT procedure. I was able to wear a bandanna whilst out and about that may have looked a tad odd but also had some comments that it was a cool look - they may have just been being nice though :)
I will leave Thailand with nothing but praise and admiration for Dr Kulakarn, BHI clinic and the entire team. The Thai people in my opinion are a calm beautiful culture that shows through within the level of care I was provided at every part of my journey.
Moreover I will leave with my eternal gratitude for an outstanding result of over 6000 transplanted grafts that has delivered more than I hoped for and Im sure will for me be the end of that taunting voice in my mind that created my personal conflict with baldness.
Im happy to engage in meaningful dialogue should anyone wish once your decision to narrow down your choice of provider is to include Dr Kulakarn and Dr Wunny of BHI Clinic and will post later photos.

I was travelling to Thailand and wanted to do my eyebrow transplant. I found this clinic after doing lot of research. The clinic was located in a super clean modern building on the second floor. From the moment I walked in, I knew that I was in the right place. All the staff were so open and welcoming.
I had pre booked my appointment for a consultation with Dr Kaulakarn which was so informative and was very convincing. She was also very open to discussing all my questions and really understood my concerns of my eyebrow shapes that I wanted.

Throughout the surgery they were so careful and concerned if I had any pain with needles etc. Yes, the numbing needles at times were stinging a little bit, but that was fine with me.
The actual hair grafting was absolutely no pain at all and in few hours I had brand new thick eyebrows. I couldn't believe it! So, if you want eyebrows done then look no further, this is the place in Thailand. This clinic is good as any good clinic you'll find in the west. But in term of cleanliness, service, and professionalism, I'd say this is top of the line and no one can do better.

One last thing I'd like to add here is I went back to the Clinic to do follow up treatments and their level of respect and how nicely they'll service you time and time again, it's absolutely priceless. They really make you feel like you are a VIP guest.

Dr. Kulakarn is one of the finest hair transplant doctors currently working in Thailand. She has accolades from the United States and I'm sure, many satisfied customers.
As a female, as do all women, I believe she instinctively knows about hair and its growth. I think men seem to forget and as they start to lose hair and either shave their heads or comb over. Just notice how much time any woman you may know spends on time and money with their hair appearance.

Dr. Kulakarn has got something special. Years of experience, and 'the touch'. She has repositioned my beard hair under my chin mixing it with donor hair from the sides, after 4 than satisfactory transplants by(sorry) male doctors prior. I am very happy with the results and I will go back for another procedure. I am also happy to say that I have very minimal scarring under my chin which is slowly disappearing.

Her fees are not exorbitant and you will be very well looked after by her staff in her state of the art premises.

It's your choice, but if I were you, look no further.

Amazing surgeon. I flew from Canada to see her 3 years ago. She is patient, honest, not pushy, and listened to my 1000+ questions before and after the surgery. She also continued to communicate via Line App for up to a year post- procedure. She is very skilled and her rates are very reasonable. I would definitely recommend Dr. Amonpattana over any of the clinics I visited for consultation in Canada.

My experience with Dr. Kulukarn was excellent - this was my first and, to date, only hair transplant. Although I did extensive research I was somewhat apprehensive and concerned with the possibility of success even in the months following the procedure. It’s been a little over a year and a half and it went as well as I could have hoped. Dr. Kulukarn was very willing to answer questions and even provided suggestions for where to modify my hairline even though I wasn’t sure I agreed with at the time. In the long run she was right. Her staff was attentive, gave excellent post-care, and did a great job through what was a long surgery. I’m currently managing any additional hair loss with Finisteride so that I (hopefully) won’t need another procedure but if I did I would go back to her with no reservation.

Having no intention of getting a hair transplant while on vacation in Thailand, the more I looked around and did some research, the more I liked Dr. Kulakarn Amonpattana. Getting a procedure done at Maple Clinic came to look like a prudent decision. I have the feeling that the clinic and Dr. Kulakarn aren’t more evident on the radar is because she’s quite low key, in person, and in publicizing her clinic. My first inquiry via email got a quick and direct response which differed from every other place/people I tried contacting for a consultation. Some wrote back but it became apparent that brokers work as middle men in many cases and something just seemed fishy. So I made an appointment for a consultation and wasn’t charged anything. Dr. Kulakarn met me at the end of what I know had to be a long tiring day for her and her technicians. Maple Clinic is not the easiest place to get to because it’s a good hour (in decent traffic) from central Bangkok which is probably another reason they didn’t show up as frequently as much bigger clinics in the city. Dr. Kulakarn was pleasant enough and patient answering my many questions though I didn’t leave feeling that she was the one for me even though her price definitely seemed fair...I wanted to seek out more options and opinions. The problem was that is just wasn’t straight forward to make an appointment with anybody else. Admittedly my attempts weren’t so diligent and I didn’t get another consultation. So other the course of about a week, the desire to get the procedure done while still in Thailand made more and more sense. I was probably contacting Dr.Kulakarn at least once a day and she emailed back usually, if not every instance, later the same day to answer more questions. And her answers made sense as well...I felt that she was being truthful about everything I asked about. So I did some due diligence on her and on Maple Clinic and found nothing that looked in anyway like a red flag. I fact, I found her credentials to be impeccable and absolutely recommend that you see for yourself rather than list them here. I decided with clear certainty that she was the doctor for me and made an appointment for about 10 days later since an availability only a few days out (which she had mentioned during the consultation) had filled up. Another thing worth mentioning is that she wasn’t in any sort of fuss whatsoever when my money transfer got held up for administrative issues (transferring money is a hassle...cash is king in Thailand and exchange is so easy). My deposit didn’t transfer in time to hold my spot but she was casual about it, basically saying that she trusted that I would have full payment the morning of the procedure. This just reinforced that I made the right decision to go with Maple Clinic. Oh, and another thing in their favor for me was that they don’t do arrangements for hotel and transportation. I simply found a hotel nearby myself and hired a taxi which are everywhere...worked out great...the clinic emailed a map that the driver used to deliver me to the front door the 4 times that I have now gone there (consult, procedure, day-after cleaning, and stitches removal a week later). Everything about this place is pleasant and professional...and being somewhat outside of Bangkok tells me that this clinic doesn’t need to pass higher overhead onto their clients.

I’m now 6 mouths post transplant and couldn’t be happier. Dr. Kulakarn transplanted 4002 hair’s using FUT (I went in only wanting FUE but Dr. Kulakarn changed my mind in sort order for reasons that made perfect sense to me). It was a fairly long day and logistics are a bit more challenging then if in Bangkok, but the work she did is completely worth it! And for the price I paid more than worth it. It is no understatement to say that I’m completely delighted with the results so far and especially by watching my hair grow and thicken by the day.

When you really get into finding out more about hair transplantation, you (as least I did) see/saw that there is a great deal to get right in the procedure for a great looking result. It is definitely an art that is like a layer above the medical expertise employed. The hairline has to be natural (this is a BIGGIE, and Dr. K. did mine brilliantly)...angle and depth of each follicular unit must be just right (my transplanted hair is growing out in a natural wave exactly like my lost hair once did...how did she do that!?)...distribution of the units with a natural density (my coverage pattern is like the alopecia is now going drastically in reverse)...and the scar (mine is as minimal as it can possibly be because of the training and technique of Dr. K.)...and there are more factors like survival rate of units, post-op care and harvesting the hair follicles along with the team of technicians working in conjunction with the surgeon, all of which are dependent on the experience and specialty of that surgeon. Fortunately for me (and for you perhaps) I found Dr. Kulakarn Amonpattana and couldn’t imagine being happier with the results (and It’s only been 6 months!).

My experience with Dr. Amonpattana was exceptional. Being a registered nurse as well as an overall meticulous person, I spent quite a bit of time researching the options available in Thailand. Though it is certainly not Turkey, Thailand does offer plenty enough options to get confused. After 6 in person doctor consultations and weeks of obsessive research, I was able to zero in on Dr. Amonpattana. She has many years of experience, has trained and worked with the best, and is quite well published. Yet what really closed the deal for me was her honesty and attentiveness as a physician. She spent a good hour or more with me in my consultation and took the time to answer and explain things in the kind of detail that I appreciate. Better yet, she is honest and lets you know what you can truly expect in the process of hair transplantation. She answered quite a litany of questions with great patience and even let me examine the operating room to put my meticulous medical mind at ease. I still had quite a few questions several weeks later, so I sent her an epically long email. She took the time to read it and answered all of my questions without any attitude. I was impressed, as I can imagine the sheer length of my email was overwhelming.
When it came down to the actual procedure I was even further impressed. Both Dr. Amonpattana and her team were extraordinarily skilled, kind and attentive. They went out of their way to make me comfortable and always explained what they were doing. Though it is early days as far as results are concerned, I am very pleased with the process so far. The hairline she designed is fantastic and everything is progressing in accordance with how she explained it would. I highly recommend Dr. Amonpattana, both for her skill and accomplishment as a physician as well as her personality and “bedside” manner.
