While lip injectables provide the quickest recovery time, patients are very likely to experience swelling and bruising for several days. I suggest you be as diligent with your recovery steps as possible by following your surgeon's wishes for rest and pain medication. Be sure to schedule a follow-up appointment with your surgeon so that he/she can monitor your progress as he/she is most familiar with your latest health profile and nonsurgical experience.
Thank you for your question. I would wait until all the swelling goes down and then return to your injector for follow-up. Swelling usually starts to subside by the second day, but may take several days to fully resolve. Any minor lumps may also resolve on their own.
I always tell my patients to not love their fillerinjections for 2 weeks. Swelling is very common and sometimes immediate. It canlast 3-7 days and a good idea is to use cold compresses. Cold compresses may beused immediately after treatment to reduce swelling only if needed. This may beapplied for 3 minutes, 3 times per day, for up to 3 days. This is best donewith a bag of peas in a zip lock bag. Only apply light pressure to the area butgentle massage might be necessary if the bump is from the filler materialitself. Get Arnica gel if you can find some and apply a few times a day as wellto help treat any swelling. Avoid any blood thinners. Bruising can also last1-2 weeks. I don't recommend hyaluronidase this early and wait a few weeksuntil the swelling has resolved. If it is persistent or you are worried, set upa follow up appointment with your dermatologist.
It is common to have swelling after filler injections that can last a couple of weeks. If you are concerned, talk to your injector.
The upper lip was over correctted. It should be smaller than the lower. I don't think even after swelling is gone that it will be like that. It's still early and numbs can take up to a week to subside. My guess is that you'd be happier dissolving the filler. Wait a week to see though.
Hello plasticsurglover1967,Thanks for your question.I agree that Botox to the DAO muscle and filler or fat injections to support the volume loss in the marionette's region will temporarily lift the corners of the mouth. An expert injector could really help you out in this situation.Something more...
In my experience lip swelling is mostly due to the trauma of the procedure and less to minor changes in volume of product injected. Any bruising caused by the procedure will also tend to be associated with more swelling. Patients that have significant swelling with previous...
Waiting will not help this problem. I would try to add HA fillers around it to make it look better. The only way to get rid of it is surgical excision, but you will probably make the lip look worse.
