Hi, I got a breast augmentation and small lift 3/17 (scarring is around the entire areola). I'm 4'11 and 109lbs, implants are possibly 325 CC. My surgeon upped the size of the implants before surgery to achieve a perkier look w/o doing a lollipop lift to avoid scarring. My breasts have gotten too big which causes back pain/discomfort. She has recommended I keep the same implants but get a lift to reduce breast size and restore proportion. I'm a DD would like to be a C. Would only a lift work?
Answer: Explant and lift instead of removing breast tissue A breast lift can be done that does not reduce the size of the breasts. However, if you are a DD now and want to be a C, it would be better doing explantation and lift using The Bellesoma Method. The implants are removed, your breast tissue is reshaped creating upper pole fullness, elevated higher on the chest wall and more medial to increase your cleavage. Vertical scars are avoided, nipple sensation (in 95%) and the ability to breast feed are maintained, if not injured during your previous surgery. Later, fat transfers can be performed if additional volume is desired. Implants are not lifetime devices. 8% fail within the first year and 30% fail within six years. Fat transfers are permanent and incorporated into the body.Best Wishes,Gary Horndeski, M.D.

Answer: Will a lift reduce the size of my breasts? Hello, thank you for your question. It is hard to tell without proper photos, a physical examination is needed to determine if a breast lift would help you with your goals. I recommend you to schedule a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon.

Answer: Too big You might do better going down in size with your implants, or perhaps removing them all together, and doing a lift if needed. If you have plenty of breast tissue, you don't need implants. Remember, as long as you have implants, there is always a potential future surgery. If you have a lot of excess skin, then a lift will reduce your size.

Answer: An in person evaluation is needed to answer your question. No revision should be done for at least 6 months. I recommend an in person evaluation by a plastic surgeon to be measured and discuss your goals. After I measure and discuss goals with my patients, we then look at pictures of former patients with similar measurements with different size and style breast implants. My patients tell me that this process is very helpful in determining what size breast implant is right for them. They also get to see what they would look like when the implants have fully dropped and fluffed and in clothes. You get to see actual results and the surgeon's experience and not a virtual idea of what can be achieved. Answer: Will a lift reduce the size of my breasts? Thank you for your question. Unfortunately without photos is very difficult to evaluate the degree of reduction you might achieve with a lift versus a change of implants. A lift would work in terms of a reduction in general but it is impossible to guarantee a post operative C (also in consideration that different bras will fit you differently). I believe that an honest and open conversation with your surgeon is the best way forward. All the bestAndrea MarandoPlastic and Cosmetic Surgeon, Manchester and London, UK
