Thank you for your question and congratulations on your recent procedure. While it is normal for the body to retain water weight post procedure, you are also experiencing swelling as well while your body is healing. It's best to not focus on your post-op weight, this should return to normal after a little time to heal. With SmartLipo, results are best maintained by continuing a healthy eating and exercise routine following your procedure, once your surgeon releases you to normal physical activity, that it. Good luck and congratulations again!
Thank you for your question. Yes, it is normal to weigh more after surgery. Your body may have significant swelling and are most likely obtaining water. Your clothes may also fit tighter. Make sure you are wearing your body garment to help with the swelling. It is also important that you speak to your surgeon regarding any concerns you may see. Best of luck on your recovery and just be patient.
Hi Inez, This is a great question that I am often asked. Yes it is completely normal for you to be slightly heavier even though fat was removed. Your doctor used tumescent anesthesia which is fluid mixed with lidocaine and epi to help extract the fat. That extra water weight in addition to the body's natural host defense system will cause you to be "heavier" for a period of time. I have all my patients on a low salt and low carbohydrate diet post op to help decrease water retention.Hope this helps, trust the process, patience is key with lipo!!!
There is always water retention and swelling after liposuction. Do not judge your results until the swelling is gone, usually several months although your shape improvement should be immediately apparent.
After surgery and or liposuction weight gain can happen. The bodies response to trauma or surgery is to hold water to help healing. It will go away and eat healty.
