Is it ok to get smart lipo tomorrow if I have been wearing the nicotine patch?

Is it still safe for me to get my procedure? I am 41 and very fit and healthy other than a 2 week fall of the wagon with smoking and because I didn't want to be tempted I put on a patch, not knowing it was also bad.

I would advise to ask your doctor. My personal experience is that although many smokers are advised to quit smoking before this procedure many don't and I still perform the procedure without problems. Best wishes.

Thanks for your question. For a procedure like Smartlipo or traditional liposuction, I'm less concerned about nicotine use than I would be for more invasive procedures where skin is being removed. When skin incisions are placed on tension, that is really when we see complications due to nicotine use go way up (maybe 10 times higher than someone not using it). Best wishes on your procedure.

You will be ok. But as a general rule its good to stop all nicotine before and after any plastic surgery procedure. Make up for your "transgression" by stopping after. Good luck
