I only have enough money for 4 areas to be done which is each side of two areas. I am wondering how much can be taken from these areas or if it is still worth doing if I cannot get as much done as I need. I am a size 14 after gaining 71 pounds on a medicine I was put on in 5 months of being on that med. I have lost 34 pounds so far but still have 50 to go to get to goal.

The back and sides, for example is a single aesthetic unit, the full abdomen is another. Treating a full aesthetic unit at one time is the least you should do if you want the best chance at a great result. Breaking down full aesthetic units with an ala carte mentality will usually produce incomplete results and leave you looking like a French poodle.

Answer: How much fat can be removed? I would suggest you set up a consult with a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss your concerns. I like my patients to be within 10lbs of their goal weight before having the procedure. The amount of fat suctioned depends on your anatomy and how aggressive your surgeon is. I think if you and your doctor are on the same page and goals are understood you should have a very good result that will make you happy. Best of luck to you!

Answer: Smartlipo is a body shaping technology, not a weight loss tool Logan,Congrats on losing the 34 lbs. I suggest getting closer to your ideal body weight before doing Smartlipo. Even thought many liters of fat can be removed with this procedure, it is designed to be a sculpting tool, not a weight loss enhancer. I also suggest being off of any medication that can cause weight gain, especially if it is something like Prednisone. Finally, make sure your thyroid is functioning properly. Good luck!

Answer: Liposuction by areas I always tell my patients that cosmetic surgery is an elective procedure that should be done when you are ready for a complete treatment by a good surgeon and not worried about severe consequences in your economic situation. It is always better to wait and get a full torso liposuction, maybe adding a tummy tuck if your exam shows it would be required for complete cosmetic enhancement. I never perform liposuction by areas, I think the results are always disappointing and the money spent is not much less than doing it in a more thorough way. My advise is for you to avoid this area by area treatment sadly performed more for economic interest than patient results. Good luck
