Will bunched up skin smooth out? (Photo)

Question

I tried calling the PS but have not gotten a response. Not sure traveling to Miami for sx was smart. Maybe being in home state would produce better response. I am 17 days post TT. I have a bunching of skin at the end of my incision. It looks and feels like maybe it's stitched too tight. Will this go away when the swelling goes down? What can I do to help it heal? Should I be concerned? Will I need more sx?

Bunched up and pleated skin is normal after tummy tuck, and will continue to improve over several months,  At the end of the incision sometimes the skin does not totally flatten ( dog ear), but can easily be corrected by minor correction in  the office.   In general, what has not completely flattened out after 6 months can be revised in the office.

Hi Nextlevelbaby,Bunching is not unusual after a tummy tuck.  This should smooth out over time. The tightness should also improve over time.  Make sure you see your plastic surgeon so he can make sure you are healing well.  They may also be able to recommend either silicone sheeting, like Embrace or Biocorneum to help optimize healing.Hope that helps.Best,Dr. B

Although your concerns are understandable, is most likely that you will be pleased with the longer-term outcome of the procedure performed; “wrinkling” and skin contour irregularities tend to smooth out over the course of the first several months after tummy tuck surgery. Patience is definitely necessary as it will take many months and even up to one year to see the final outcome of the procedure performed. Best wishes.

It is not unusual to have " bunched up skin" immediately after tummy tuck surgery.  This will smooth out over time.  Follow your surgeon's instructions for a nice recovery.
