I am scheduled to have a bbl using laser lipo. I have loose stomach skin from 2 pregnancies so the doctor thinks the tightening from the laser would be good. Will the laser lipo fat extraction method have just as long lasting results as conventional lipo? Will it allow me to retain as much fat? Essentially I'm wondering if any aspect of the results will be compromised by using laser lipo as opposed to conventional.
Answer: Can bbl be done with laser lipo? Will it yield the same results? Thermal energy or heat from any source can damage fat cells, and this energy should not come into contact with any of the fat that is to be transferred for the BBL.

Answer: I Prefer Tumescent Lipo Using Slender Cannulas Liposuction is the first step in creating a long-lasting fat graft. You want the liposuction cannula (the wand used to extract the fat) to remove the highest concentration of SMALL fat particles to get he best fat graft take. Low extraction pressure is best to get healthy, viable fat cells. Laser liposuction and ultrasonic liposuction emit high energy that liquefies and destroys tissue around the cannula. I am not a fan of damaging tissue or fat cells that are not being extracted. Once the fat is extracted, proper processing and re-injection methods should be used. Be sure to consult with your board certified plastic surgeon to discuss the extraction (liposuction) method in detail along with the rest of the procedure (processing and re-injection methods) in detail to give yourself some peace of mind. Best wishes!

Answer: Laser Liposuction for fat transfer thank you for your question and good luck on your upcoming surgery. Usually it's better to avoid fat extraction for fat transfer with laser liposuction technique. You can certainly use power assisted liposuction, Water Jet Liposuction or Vaser Liposuction with great results with fat transfer and viability. A surgeon can definitely use one of the above mentioned modalities for liposculpture followed by Laser use for skin tightening only. It's best to discuss this with your plastic surgeon and review his/her results. Best of luck! Dr. Dhaval M. Patel Double Board Certified Plastic Surgeon Chicago, Oakbrook, Hoffman Estates
