8 days post BBL: I'm having trouble removing my drain. (photo)

Question

I was told this mornin to remove my drain. I tried to follow their video on how to remove it by washin my hands, cleanin the area, and cuttin the stitch.. now when i went to pull it was ok the first 2sec but then i got this sharp pain. I feel like the tube is being pulled back in and the more i pull the worse it hurts.. i cried took a break and a nap. I later took 2pain pills &tried again.. same results. Im not able to remove it w/o it hurtin soo bad! is there anythin i can do?

Your question is concerning on many levels. It is clear that you traveled a distance from your home to have your surgery and now you are home, without an available doctor, and you have been instructed to remove your own drain (with the aid of a how-to video). This is extremely dangerous! If you choose to travel for surgery, you should stay close to your surgeon until all issues are resolved - this includes removal of the drains. Pulling out a drain can seem simple, but if the drain get stuck and you pull, it can break, leaving a foreign body inside that needs to be surgically removed. I am concerned if this is the routine policy of your surgeon that his/her patients are sent home and told to remove their drains on their own. You are not going to like my recommendation, but you should see your surgeon and have the drain removed. If this is impossible, you need to see a board certified plastic surgeon who is will to help you - keep in mind that there may not be many willing to help, and those that do will charge you a substantial fee. Please do not go to an emergency room, since an emergency room is not the appropriate setting for post-op care from an elective cosmetic surgery.

Contact your surgeon and report to him/her your problem.  Your surgeon should be able to help you remove the drain since he/she performed the procedure and most familiar with your case.
