Answer: Implant Exchange - D or DD implant Size factors It is very difficult to determine the exact size and shape implant you will require to best match your ideal breast image especially for breast implant revision surgery without an examination by a board certified plastic surgeon. Not just any board certified plastic surgeon, but one with many years of frequently performing breast augmentation surgery including different approaches, techniques and implant choices. This is because several measurements not to mention your breast characteristics are needed to determine the optimal implant size to obtain your goals. Without knowing these dimensions it would be difficult to make this determination. For example, the existing base width of your breast will determine, in many cases, the maximal volume per implant profile that you can accommodate. To illustrate; a 100 cc difference may make a significant difference with a narrow base width breast, but much less of a difference if you have a wide chest wall and wide breast “foot print”. Therefore, just because your friend may have a great result with let’s say a 350 cc implant to make her go from a “A” cup to a “C” cup size does not mean that you will have the same result with the same size implant. . Further simply placing implants in a bra to determine the size best for you is not always accurate as the bra often distorts the size, is dependent on the pressure the bra places plus the implant is outside your breast and not under it among other variables. Computer software morphing programs that automatically determine the best implant size can be helpful in some but not all cases (e.g. doesn’t work well in my experience with existing implants, sagging or asymmetric breasts). Using “want to be” photos however are useful if simply provided to the surgeon as I will further explain in the below link.

Answer: Increasing your implant size Without knowing your current implant size it will be difficult to say how large a 450cc implant will be. However, based on your small frame 450cc would be about as big as I would suggest for you. Consider using a higher profile implant since it appears that your breast base width is quite narrow and your current implants appear to already have a lot of fullness in the upper portion of your breasts. Best of luck!

Answer: Will this size give me a DD. In general in will take an increase of 150cc to go up a cup size, and we do not know what size implant you are currently wearing. If you chose the 450cc implant, hope you are right, but it might make more sense to let an experienced surgeon decide for you.

Answer: Going up in size of breast implants So much of the look of an implant is the chest in which it is placed. In general, our patients who choose to go larger will usually add at least 100 cc to their present size in order to see a difference. In your case, you have chosen to go to 450 cc. I would suggest counsulting with your surgeon and asking to see women of your height and weight who presently have 450 cc implants. No one can actually predict what cup size you will be or what the look will be, but the more photos you can see the better idea you may have. Choose your surgeon careuflly and rely on his/her guidance. Best,Below is a patient who had revision to a larger breast implant size.

Answer: Will adding 100cc to my breasts increase my bra size by 2 cups? Rule of thumb is that it takes an increase of 200 cc to increase your breast size 1 cup. Therefore, going from 350cc to 450cc will amount to 1/2 a cup size increase. This will fall short of your goal of DD. Having said that, I personally feel that a 450cc or larger implant will produce an abnormal appearance to your breasts.
