In most cases, at 2 months after a tummy tuck, you should be ok to start exercising with a compressive garment, as long as you do so slowly, in a controlled, regulated manner with steady increases in resistance and endurance progression. This is assuming you have recovered as expected and there have been no complications in the postoperative period. Even with that said however, it is best to refer to your plastic surgeon's individualized recommendations and postoperative regimen as he/she is the only one who knows the exact details of your surgery and can tailor your postoperative do's and don'ts accordingly...Good luck.Mark K Markarian, MD, MSPHHarvard-trained Aesthetic Plastic Surgeon
Ultimately, the only person who should be dictating your postoperative instructions and limitations is the surgeon who performs the procedure. Only he/she knows your background, your specific case, the surgical maneuvers planned and performed, etc. While we online consultants aim to help as much as possible, it is not appropriately that we be dictating any aspect of the postoperative care for a patient with whom we are not familiar, nor have even met.Best of luck!Dr. SubbioBoard-Certified Plastic SurgeonNewtown Square/Philadelphia, PA
Usually by this time, I only have my patients where compression if performing exercise and mostly for comfort but at two months this is usually not an issue unless they have had issues with fluid collections or severe swelling which is rare. Ask you surgeon to be sure. Best wishes.
By two months most are well on their way to full exercise and we would see no problem with a waist trainer or other form of compression during exercise if comfortable. If you had a hernia or muscle plication you might wait up to 12 weeks before strenthening and begin with graduated exercise to build up core endurance first.
