Blue sutures from rhinoplasty. Should I be concerned?

Thank you for your question.  Usually blue sutures are not dissolvable.  Sometimes the sutures can become caked with old blood making them hard to visualize.  I would return to your plastic surgeon so he/she can make sure it was not missed.  This is a easy problem to solve.  Best wishes

likely are non-absorbable sutures and should have been removed along with your
other sutures. The blue coloring is to make them more visible so the surgeon
knows to remove them, but depending on the size of the sutures, they can be
easy to miss. You should return to your surgeon as soon as possible for removal
to decrease chances of scarring. Facial sutures should be removed at about 5
days in order to decrease chances of scarring. There is a small chance that the
blue suture was used for a tip refinement procedure during the surgery. If that
is the case, your surgeon will be able to address that issue when they meet
with you.

If you have a retained suture, you need to see your surgeon  to see if it need to be removed or if it will dissolve on its own.

Most blue sutures used in surgery are not dissolvable.Unless there is rapidly growing redness and tenderness, do not worry. The suture should be removed in the next few days, but is unlikely to cause any harm until it is.
