What can help get rid of banana rolls? (photos)

The area under the buttocks often described as banana rolls is one of the most difficult to be treated. However superficial liposuction can improve the appearance and create a smoother look. In certain cases, a combination of liposuction with a very soft fat injection can also be the best technique.

Hello and thank you for posting your photo as well. Interesting question. In other cases, with bigger rolls, careful lipo might make them smaller. But lipo in this area can lead to sagging of the butt. I really cannot think of any surgical procedure that can get rid of your banana rolls.
They are so small that Liposuction is not worth the risk of a saggy butt. You could try working out if you like…

Hi. U can get rid of banana rolls using liposuction. We have done such cases with liposuction and got fair results. It will give your body good shape and contour. First let me say, most women would KILL to look as good as you already do.

I agree with the general consensus that liposuction can be a little unpredictable for treating that (it's really only on your left gluteal area, the right one is perfect). There are some procedures that can address that where you actually cut out some skin and retack the gluteal fold to shape it, but it makes a scar that can be wide sometimes. It's a good operation in the right people, but at your age with such a nice shape I'd probably try & talk you out of it.

If you were determined to do anything, Dr Blinski's suggestion of Kybella injections to try and get the area to retract are probably the most I'd consider

I think you are a perfect candidate for liposuction. I used to do primarily Tumescent liposuction in this area and was quite disappointed. When I switched to Ultrasonic liposuction, and I have used various different companies, including Lysonic and Vaser, and I have seen significant improvements in this area. My biggest challenge has been in removing just the right amount. I used to be fairly aggressive and left an actual crease under the buttock. But as you look at various models, they usually do NOT have a crease. So I have sought to achieve a nice smooth contour from buttock onto the posterior thigh. I believe you could also achieve a nicer front or rear contour by taking down the sides of the outer thighs at the same level as the banana roll. I see an outward curve at the hip, an inward curve at the buttock and an outward curve in the lateral thigh. I would like to see a nice curve from waist to thigh. See a good board-certified plastic surgeon and ask around from friends or people who work in the various surgery centers. They usually know who does the best work. And look at his/her before and after photos to see if their image of the ideal hip / buttock curve matches your ideals. I would stay away from the various "non-invasive" or injection techniques which usually give only a fraction of the results you would see with well done liposuction. The best liposuction is NOT done by the right cannula or right machine, but rather by the right doctor wielding that cannula.Good luck!!

First, you look great now. Sure it can always be better and you obsess, but we all do.
Unfortunately, that area sucks. If you had a lot of fat, liposuction could improve it.
It appears you have elastic skin and uneven gluteal creases. Not too much available will improve it and most things may worsen it.
Non invasive skin tightening will not change the crease asymmetry. Fat transfer is not accurate enough to fill the bottom of your right crease for symmetry

Thanks for the posted photo, it really helps. Your banana roll issue is minor as compared to the majority whom need treatments. Also you appear with asymmetry between each area. I might recommend trying a few sessions of KyBella injections conservatively to see if effects can be attained.

Your body looks normal and appropriate and I think you should avoid having surgical intervention.

The banana roll is a skin fold that forms an upright standing position as the skin on the back of the thigh is pushed into the buttocks.

If you look at the full range of motion of their hips they are fully extended in an upright standing position and this causes the skin to bulk up and fold.

The back of the thigh and buttocks has a lot of connective tissue that holds the skin in place and the excess skin creates a bulge here naturally in a standing position.

The same as true on many parts of the body. For example in the sitting position must people have a skin fold on their lower abdomen.

We think of ourselves as being stretched out when we’re standing up straight but because the hips flex forward the skin is pushed together in a standing position and some people that creates a skin fold.

The banana role does not represent an issue with fat distribution and doing Liposuction in attempt to correct it creates an abnormal distorted fat distribution that does not make the skin fold go away but will create the appearance of a defect.

The banana roll should generally not be treated because it typically doesn’t improve from Liposuction and more commonly than not creates secondary problems that are undesirable.

In your case the amount of skin fold or banana roll is minimal and compared to the thousands of patients I’ve examined not enough to justify surgical intervention especially considering that there is no good surgical procedure that corrects it.

Plastic surgeons with sufficient experience will understand the dynamics of this area and recognize the Liposuction will not fix the problem. Less experienced providers may jump to Liposuction as an obvious treatment option believing it will fix the problem.

You’re a good candidate for liposuction and fat transfer in other areas for other reasons but for the banana roll I suggest you leave good enough alone.

My practice has been devoted exclusively to Liposuction and fat transfer for the last decade. I’ve been practicing plastic surgery for over 22 years. i’ve done 8000 Liposuction procedurs.

Unfortunately the banana roll is just one of those areas that we don’t have a good treatment for.
