I have a vertical dark shadow on one side of my nose 1.5 months post rhinoplasty. (photos)

Question

I had surgery a month and a half ago and had turbinate reduction, slightly deviated septum corrected, bulbous tip reduced, and my nose was slightly off center so I think they re-positioned it. Also I had my dorsal hump reduced. Now I have a vertical shadow on one side of my nose that also appears to be indenting in and I can feel the indention as well. Is it normal to have a dark shadow on one side of the nose and will it go away with time? It makes it look crooked.

It's too early to make value judgments with only 6 weeks after a rhinoplasty.Swelling after a rhinoplasty depends of the surgery complexity.In this regard, the nasal swelling Post-op It can last from two weeks to two months.To reduce this swelling, I recommend you perform delicates daily lymphatic drainage massage therapy over the face (around the nose) avoid sun exposure, and take pain/inflamation pills, as your surgeron precribe you.Kind regards, Dr. Emmanuel Mallol Cotes.-

You are early in the healing process after rhinoplasty. The nose will continue to improve and change as the swelling resolves over a one year timeframe. I'll be patient and let your nose heal before judging the results of your nose. If you still have concerns that time you consider other options such as additional surgery or a nonsurgical rhinoplasty.I hope this helps

Meg3163s, see your surgeon. In general all post op issues need to be dealt with through your surgeons office until you get to a year. Then if you are unhappy I would recommend visiting with another specialist. Good luck!
