When can I wash my nose after rhinoplasty?

You will have a splint placed on your nose at the end of the operation which remains on for one week and must be kept dry. Following the removal of the splint you will have further dressings in place for another week. At 2 weeks post op all dressings are removed you may wash your face as normal. The nose will still be quite tender so it is advised to start gently.   It is important to wash your face as your skin will be congested and oily. Gently washing and exfoliating your skin will not disturb the cartilage or ruin the results.

Recovering from rhinoplasty is a healing process. While the cast was on your nose, you needed to keep it dry. Now that the cast is off, it is important to clean the skin on your nose. It has over a week's worth of dead skin cells clogging the pores on your nose. At this point you need to exfoliate the skin on your nose. You can use a scrub or even an alcohol pad. Scrubbing your skin won't move your cartilage grafts. You don't want the blackheads to become infected while your nose heals. You may need to return to your surgeon's office to review good post-operative care to keep you on track for a safe and happy result. Safety comes first. 

You can wash your nose now. You can use whatever pre operative skin care regimen that you used before. you can wash it like you did before. Of course don't push on the bony parts but you should be able to scrub the skin. Best wishes

Hello, Thank you for your question. I would always suggest consulting with your surgeon but at 3 weeks out you can wash your nose. Gentling washing that area should not do any harm.We wish you the best of luck!
