Thank you for your question regarding alternatives for the treatments of thearms. Based on your arm picture you have a type 4 arm with excess arm skinand fat to the elbow. Therefore, you need fat arm fat an arm skin removed. Armliposuction alone will not remove the arm skin. Therefore, you need a formalarm lift (brachioplasty) or arm reduction. This would include arm liposuctionand an incision for the arm pit to the elbow. I would ask you why you would not consider surgery. The arm lift isperformed under general anesthesia. The procedure takes approximately 3 hours. You will have some mild pain not extreme pain. Your results will belife-changing and extremely dramatic. The arm lift scar is a trade-off forgetting rid of the excess arm skin and fat. However, by far, the majority of mypatients would trade the excess arm skin and fat for an arm scar any day. Veryfew of my arm lift patients need arm scar revision. However, the arm lift revisioncan be done in the office either with surgical revision or with a laser. Iwould not waste your money on anything else, but an arm lift. CoolSculpting andThermage will do nothing for your arms. Save your money. I hope I have answeredyour questions about your arms. If you have any more questions regarding thearm lift, please call my office.Sincerely,Dr. Katzen
Awesome weight loss. From what I can see in your picture, there is a significant amount of loose skin on your arms. Non-surgical procedures or even energy- based liposuction (VASER or Smartlipo) will not tighten the loose skin. I do both of these procedures so I can tell you they won't tighten your skin enough and although your arms may be made smaller, you will be left with loose skin. An arm lift is really the only procedure that can remove and help your loose skin in the arms.
This is a difficult problem...liposculpture alone would remove the excess fatty tissue, but there would be a lot of looser skin. Thermage is a non-invasive method of tightening skin (radio frequency). The problem is that the "tightening" may take weeks or months and even then, the skin may still be loose and sag.Arm reduction is an excellent way to correct the problem. The first part of the procedure would be liposculpture of the arm (from elbow to armpit), then the ellipse of skin and fat will be removed with a large ellipse extending from elbow - armpit (axilla). It can then be extended onto the lateral chest wall (lateral to the breast). The scars heal well and are on the inside of the arm, so they are well concealed. Patients are extremely happy with the results and it is worth the trade-off of the scar versus the result.
An arm lift would be best, its trade off being a scar.An alternative is Vaser ultrasound liposuction which will debulk by removing some fat and tightening skin but only to a certain degree. This will make your arm smaller without an arm lift scar, but likely will leave some hanging skin, which some patients are ok with.An exam and consultation with a plastic surgeon who performs these procedures is recommended to confirm you are a candidate as well as discuss your options and expectations.
I do not think there are many better alternatives to an arm lift in your case. You have a significant amount of loose skin that can most effectively be removed surgically. It is very important that you seek the advice of a surgeon who is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and has extensive experience with arm lifts. I wish you the best, Dr. Gabbay.
Based on your pictures you seem to be a good candidate for an arm lift, always consult with a board certified PS in person.
hello. Based on your photo - you have a large amount of loose skin. Unfortunately the best procedure for you is an arm lift ( brachioplasty). There is no other way to tighten the skin adequately
You would need reduction of fat and skin. I do this with a combination of liposuction and skin excision. The scar will be on inner side of the arms. Other surgeons may suggest doing liposuction first fullowed by skin resection.
Hello and thank you for your question. Thebest advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation. Based onyour photographs, the best shape and contour could be achieved with an arm lift. Unfortunately there are not other alternatives which are effective for this in the setting of a high degree of skin laxity. Make sure you specifically lookat before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgeryperformed by your surgeon and evaluate their results. The mostimportant aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommendthat you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon whocan evaluate you in person.Best wishes and good luck.Richard G. the only alternative for your arms is to remove excess skin and contour some areas with liposuction. make sure you see a board certified plastic surgeon.
