Graft count is relative to a number of key factors. You will want to consult with a board-certified hair transplant surgeon – someone who has specialized in hair transplantation for many years – to discuss hairline design, density and outcome expectations. Depending on the thinness or coarseness of your hair, I might recommend approximately 2500 grafts. I offer a virtual evaluation on my website.
If you are considering surgery it would be best to discuss your options with a doctor. Hair transplant is not about how many grafts you need but understanding your goals and expectations.2000 grafts may be enough for some but may not be enough for you if your expectations are different. The results also depend on your hair color to skin color contrast, hair texture, hair style, etc.
Thanks for your question! In your situation, 2000 grafts will be a good start, but not enough for you to experience the best result you can get from hair restoration surgery. You will likely need double that, perhaps more for what we would consider a full restoration of your hair. Please seek an experienced provider of this type of surgery.
2000 grafts would be an average amount performed for patients with a balding pattern like yours. If 2000 did not provide enough density after 12 months, you could always have a second session performed.
2000 FUE grafts looks light to me based on the photo. Usually with cases like this we suggest a minimum of 2500 grafts and could easily go up to 3000 grafts.
2,000 grafts would not be enough grafts to restore the area that you are looking to have covered. You will need at least 3,500 grafts if you are looking for a full restoration of the frontal region with a natural looking hairline
There are many factors that account for the appearance of density. When you go through for example my photo gallery, you will see some patients get 1600 grafts and look quite dense, others get 2200 grafts and still have some appearance of thinning. These factors include not just the number of grafts, but the number of hairs per graft, the caliber or thickness of the hairs, the curl of the hairs, the color contrast between the scalp and hairs, and finally and very importantly how the hairs are placed- their angulation, direction, and distribution.
Looking at these limited pictures and not knowing your donor density, I can only make a general statement about the number of grafts needed. Typically, this area takes a minimum of 2000 grafts and may take up to 3000 (or higher) to create a new hairline and backfill to the front edge of the crown. The graft count depends on your desire for higher density, the coarseness (thickness) of each transplanted follicle, and the dimensions of your head. A higher hairline is better for density, since lower hairlines require higher graft counts.
The use of 2200 grafts will probably do the job if your hair is average thickness (not fine hair) and if it is coarse, it will definitely be enough grafts
At the Norwood 7 stage, you would not have enough hair remaining on your scalp to produce a significant improvement in your coverage. If a doctor were to try and make this attempt, you would see noticeable depletion in your existing hair. This is a phenomenon known as "donor overharvesting."...
It is best to contact your surgeon for post surgery issues and care since all doctors have slightly different instructions. You generally do not need to use any creams after surgery.
It may take 6 to 12 months to see the results of a hair transplant surgery. If you are concerned it is best to discuss it with your doctor.
