Is 43 too young for a mini face lift?

Obviously, the question of "what" is easy, the questions of "why" and "when" are more difficult. Basically, as we age a number of things happen to our faces. One of them is that the tissue under the skin begins to drop with gravity. This gives you the typical jowl look. Later, your skin starts to loosen and you get the jowling along with the loose skin. During this, you can also get some extra neck skin that starts to loosen. Everyone is different. Everyone has different times when these start to occur. Now, what about the facelift. 1) A "mini" facelifts main goal is to make a small incision and pull up on some of the jowling. That is it. Other non-surgical options to this include radiofrequency skin tightening, fillers and botox. 2) Standard Facelift - The purpose of this is to pull the jowls, get rid of some extra skin and typically treat the neck and jaw line.There are many other small additions to a facelift as well and I wont get into that. I typically advise young people to try non-surgical solutions first as the risk is lower. A mini lift is a limited facelift intended for women with very early signs of aging where the benefit of the procedure outweighs the drawbacks like a scar.  This is a personal decision mostly.   Evaluate your surgeon's pre and post photos and reviews to ensure you are choosing the right surgeon for you.

There are patients in their early 40's that are great candidates for a mini face lift.  A properly performed mini face lift will not create a wind blown or deformed face.  In undergoing facial plastic surgery, you must be 100% confident that you want to undergo the procedure and that you trust your doctor.  If these criteria are not met, then I would not suggest that you undergo a mini lift at this time. I hope this helps.  

It sounds like you aren't convinced with the suggested procedures, so that is not a good start. I suggest you get another set of opinions and go from there. You should be convinced in what you need and have complete faith in your surgeon from the start. Good luck 

To answer your initial question, no, 43 is not necessarily too young for a mini facelift. The procedure is designed for patients with mild aging, and I’ve treated plenty of patients in their 40s with great success. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean you’re a good candidate – it all depends on your specific degree of aging and your goals, so only an experienced plastic surgeon who specializes in facelifts and who has examined you in person can give you a definitive recommendation.
As for your concerns about the surgeon, remember that this is a major decision, and you should feel fully confident in your surgeon’s abilities before your procedure. If you don’t, you should probably look around a bit more. If your facial sagging isn’t really bothering you, it may also be best to take a step back and give it time before deciding to move forward with a mini facelift. Don’t hesitate to have consultations with several different board-certified plastic surgeons to find out their recommendations and to find out if you feel comfortable with them. Take as much time as you need. It’s better to spend a few hundred dollars on extra consultations than to spend thousands on a surgery and be unhappy with the results.

First off 43 is not too young for a mini facelift or as a I prefer to say a conservative facelift.....so long as there is an actual need presentThe other matter is whether you are seeing the right surgeon. ....and here I am not so sure. You say you have seen some very bad work by him and that is a total red flag. I can honestly say that in the past 20 years almost all of my work has been excellent and without complication of significance. You could not find a patient of mine walking around that did not look great. I would also say this applies to many other excellent surgeons also.    So if you are seeing bad surgery by this surgeon, go get a number of other consultations and choose the surgeon who has consistently excellent results

No, 43 is not too young for a facelift...but I do want to say to be careful about what is done during the 'minilift'.  You must be sure the surgeon removes skin, as well as, tighten the muscle or you will just be wasting your money.
