I'm a male who had a mini lift back in July and I'm not very satisfied with the results I have a bit of jowling going on and a mild fullness to my chin. I didn't have much excess skin on neck so I was told a mini lift would work. My board certified PS said this procedure would last 15, yes 15 years. SMAS work was done. When would I be able to have a revision or should I wait for better results?
Answer: Best time for revision after a mini lift Best time for revision after a mini liftUsually i will wait a minimum of 6 months and prefer 9-12 months for healing to stabilize and tissues to soften.I would consider other opinions. Nothing lasts 15 years in my experience. You should see what will be needed to correct the jowels and neck to your satisfactio

Answer: I had a mini lift back in July and the results aren't as I expected. When would I be able to have a revision or should I wait? I am not sure why anyone would state that a minilift lasts 15 years. This isn't a commonly accepted idea amongst facial plastic surgeons. As others have posted on this website, minilifts are generally equated with mini results. It is important to understand that this procedure should be performed in patients with early facial aging changes. The biggest problem is when it is applied to a patient who has indications (obliquity in the neck) for which a mini lift is over-matched. A significant proportion of patients I see in consultation in their 60's or 70's feel that a minilift might be the right procedure. In such circumstances, my efforts are focused on re-engineering the discussion with education about realistic results for facelifts, minilifts, etc. Most facial rejuvenation patients want a good result and a result with durability. Most of the time, when significant aging changes are present in the neck, the outcome with a minilift will be sub par. That having been said, 3 months postop is still a little bit early to make a judgment on your final outcome (9 months to a year).

Answer: I had a mini lift and the results aren't as I expected. When would I be able to have a revision or should I wait? Often "mini-lifts" are not thorough enough to provide the results that a patient is expecting. Although the surgeon states that he/she will tighten the SMAS this does not always mean the SMAS is being "tightened" with the best possible techniques. The timing of the revision depends, and is based on the degree of residual swelling and the extent of the procedure performed. This can be as short as 3 months or a few months longer. The link below offers more information.I hope this helps.

Answer: Mini-lift revision A mini facelift will only result in minimal temporary improvement in the jawline and cheeks.Tightening of the neck skin requires a direct approach to the neck. Options include the Precision Tx internal laser to improve the wringling, tighten the neck and reduce jowls. Liposuction of the submental region and jowls will tighten and smooth these areas. Botox or excision of Platysma muscle bands will improve subcutaneous banding. A neck lift will tighten neck skin; some patients are dissapointed due to recurrence of the fine wrinkles under the chin. Please consult in person with an experienced Board Certified Plastic Surgeon prior to making treatment decisions.
