How close to my wedding is it smart to get Breast augmentation? (photos)

Question

Im getting married on June 4, less than 3 months away and I've decided to get breast implants before my wedding. I am making consult appts right now and I think that if I get my surgery done sometime in April I should be alright with 6-8 wk of recovery before the wedding. Has anyone else done something similar? We're going to Hawaii for honeymoon, will I have limitations? I am 23 years old 5'7'' 125 pounds I'm a 32A and hoping to become a full B. nothing too drastic I just want boobs. Thanks!

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!  It sounds as though you should be okay with the procedure before the wedding.  I have done breast augmentations many times for women in preparation for big events, like a wedding.  Two months of recovery will most likely be great for enjoying your wedding.  However, I would caution you on doing activities or excursions on your honeymoon that are very strenuous or involve extreme sports, like jet skiing.Thank you for your question!Dr. Schreiber, Baltimore plastic surgeon

With the timeline you've mentioned you should expect to be well-healed in time for your wedding however the drop & fluff process takes between 2-6 months so your breasts may still feel firm and sit high at that point. To some degree, how quickly your breast implants "settle" will depend on their size. I recommend that you talk over expectations in detail with your Plastic Surgeon.All the best

Thanks for your question.  I always tell my patients in such situations to give yourself 6-8 weeks recovery before your wedding.  Since you are not wanting too big of implants then i think you should be healed fine in time for your wedding and trip to Hiawaii.  Congrats!

Dear Julia,  Thanks for submitting your picture. From observing the picture, you appear small A cup. To become 32 full B cup, you will need implants with volume of 250 cc. These are  relatively small implants, which will make your recovery and settling of the implants faster .   With that  implants' size, you will look good for the wedding within 4-6 weeks from surgery as long as you do religiously your implants displacement massage.  Another critical point is selecting the right surgeon, to assure trouble free recovery. Not all results are the same, because experience, skills and aesthetic eye are crucial for good and satisfactory outcome.  So, do your due diligence and choose wisely.        Always, consult with experienced board certified plastic surgeons who perform their surgeries in accredited surgery center for your safety. Most important, check the before and after pictures in the photo gallery, to make sure that they are numerous, consistent and attractive with nice cleavage, perky, symmetrical and natural looking.                       Best of luck,                                         Dr Widder

I would advise you schedule your surgery as soon as possible.  This is because it will take normally a few weeks at least to do all the necessary preparations and find time in the schedule to perform your surgery.  But, as well, the look of the implant will change over the first several months.  In some patients, it can take a few months for the breast to significantly "drop and fluff ", to assume its more natural relaxed appearance.  You don't want to get the surgery too soon before your wedding, and feel self-conscious that your breasts still appear riding too high. Healing is a process that cannot be rushed  . . . The sooner you have your surgery the more likely it is that you will be well healed by the time of your trip.  It takes a good 6 weeks to return to strenuous activity such as watersports and hiking.  If you're planning on sitting poolside, than make sure to keep the incisions well covered in sunblock.  Congrats.

Here are some things that you may need to consider when planning your Breast Augmentation.After your #BreastAugmentation, it can take approximately 2 to 3 months, but up to one year, to see the final results, shape and size included. It takes time for the skin and muscle to stretch and relax around the new implant. The breast will often look higher, firmer, and “less natural” in the first three (3) months. It can take up to a year to see your final result.Also, healing will continue for 2-3 months for the early period. This includes some swelling, bruising, malposition, color differences.As far as being active, exercising, etc, I tell my patients, they may take gentle walks within a few days following #surgery. Light #activity may be started 7-10 days after surgery. However, if your work keeps you sedentary, you may return whenever you feel up to it.If your work is strenuous, wait until your work activity does not cause any superficial pain. It's important to do not begin light aerobic #exercise for 3 weeks and strenuous exercise for at least 6 weeks.Most importantly, is selecting the right surgeon! It is imperative you select a plastic surgeon who is board-certified and has a great deal of experience with breast augmentation and the incision type, implant placement, and implant type. Plastic surgeons who have specialized in breast surgery and cosmetic surgery are the most suitable to perform your breast augmentation. Aside from checking board-certification, it is suggested that you look at before and after photos of the surgeons actual patients, and read patient reviews. Gathering all of this information will help you make a well-informed decision that you can reflect back on and be satisfied with.
