Will 1/2 ml of filler in each cheek be noticeable?

This is difficult to answer without pictures, but this is likely to give subtle improvement. For cheek augmentation, I recommend these fillers (Voluma, Radiesse, Bellafill) and Sculptra. 1/2 syringe on a cheek is worthless and you won't see anything at all.  Start slowly by doing 1 cc on each side and then 1-2 weeks later get another 1 cc syringe on each side to be conservative.

It will depend on your desired results. However, this amount of filler can provide slight improvement. I suggest a consultation to discuss your desired results. Hope this helps.

Great question, Neggy. Without being able to examine you I cannot say if 1/2 a syringe to each cheek would be enough. In some patients it can give a modest lift to the cheekbone but some do require more, such as 1 syringe for each cheek. It is difficult to answer your question without examining you or at least seeing pictures of you.  I would say for some people, that a half ml of filler could give a subtle improvement.  Many patients require more than a half ml per side of the cheek to see any improvement.  You could always start with a low amount and add more later if desired.  

A 1/2ml of filler per cheek would be very reasonable for someone starting out with fillers or in younger folks or those that don't need a lot of fullness. The type of filler chosen and the way its injected is also important as far as the look and longevity, so make sure you seek help from a highly trained and experienced physician injector such as a dermatologist for best results. If after 2 weeks the cheeks weren't full enough, you could always add more. A well-chosen properly injected filler should last about 1 year in the cheek area.

That is a good question but as other Drs say it's best to see someone to discuss your desires. A good rule of thumb is you lose 1ml of volume of your face per decade. And also consider that it take 5 X1ml syringes to fill a teaspoon. In general the younger you are the more effective 1/2 ml per side is in the cheeks. This is because as you age you lose a lot of volume from not only fat pads but also bone and musculature. Also as you age your skin is more "doughy" meaning there is little resistance there, so filler just spreads out and "vanishes" into the skin. However about 6 weeks after the first filler when you re-inject that area you can feel the skin has thickened and so the 2nd injection of filler volumises more. So it is best to set a realistic budget as it really will be money wasted if inadequate amounts of filler are used. 
Also, it is best to see someone who does facial sculpting and that way you will look well and fresh looking without anyone knowing what you've had done. There is nothing worse than seeing an older lady with plump cheeks and lips but yet there has been no restoration to other parts of the face, and so the face looks incongruous and it sounds to me this is what you are terrified of.
