is there any way other than cosmetic surgery to remove an indentation on my cheekbone? (Photos)

hello kfcmCheek implants are available in a range of different shapes and sizes, they are mostly customized to fit a specific facial structure. Fillers such as Juvederm Voluma, Radiesse and RestylaneLyft are great alternatives to cheek implants, also fat transfer or injection can be done.

It appears that you have separation of deep layers of soft tissue in right cheek area. This may still improve with gentle massage and time. However, if this deformity doesn't go away in 6-8 months consider correction by means of injection of soft tissue filler or fat grafting (better). Good luck.

best advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation.  Since the injury was only six weeks ago and there is no fracture, this could still be swelling.  I would recommend waiting 6 months and then seeing a plastic surgeon if there is still a deformity. I recommend
that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who
can evaluate you in person.

Thanks for posting your question and photos. There are times after facial trauma that additional care is needed. Your swelling is dramatic for 6 weeks, and your concern is quite understandable. I would visit a facial plastic surgeon or general plastic surgeon. It would be wise to get a copy of the actual CT scan from the hospital, not just the report. This will allow your surgeon to see exactly what happened with the bones and soft tissue. It is possible you have malar edema, though it is possible that you have another process going on. The next step is an expert evaluation. Best of luck!

I believe you had a hematoma which has resolved and left some fibrosis. Go see a plastic surgeon for an exam. Massage may help, but sometimes careful steroid injections can help fibrosis resolve. If the is still an indention when it is fully healed (6 months), fillers or fat transfer could help.

You may not need surgery at all.  If indeed there was no fractures, all that you are seeing is probably swelling, which may take a while to subside.  No need to rush into any treatment at this time.  Be patient.  If, after 4-6 months there is still a contour irregularity present, you should consult with a plastic surgeon as regards a possible skin filler treatment, which would be a quick and easy fix.

It's hard to say without an examination, but given that you mentioned that all x-rays are unremarkable, is possible that she have a hematoma or collection of blood under the skin surface. if that is true, in some cases the hematoma can be drained by your surgeon. In other cases, if there is truly an indentation in the skin that isnt resolving, you may be able to consider facial fillers like Juvederm to fill in the crease that remains after the injury.  Best of luck to you.
