Thank you for your question regarding whether a lower body lift can be done simultaneously as a BBL. Even though it technically can be done. It does not mean it is a wise idea. The problem with performing a BBL simultaneously as a body lift is that fat is transferred to the fatty layer of the buttock. During a lower body lift, this area is raised. Injecting the fat into the body lift flap can jeopardize the blood supply. This can cause infection and wound breakdown. Therefore, I usually reserve the BBL as the secondary procedure after a lower body lift. Please seek an experienced board-certified plastic surgeon. Thank you for your question.Lower Body Lift & Brazilian Buttock Lift can be done together although I usually advise against it as the post operative positioning becomes a problem. A Buttock Augmentation can be done at the same time as a Lower Body Lift using a Flap of tissue (from the upper part of the Buttocks and waist that would have been discarded). This gives very good results and you may not need Brazilian Buttock Lift as this provides more stable augmentation. All The Best !
One of the most popular procedures after massive weight loss is a lower body lift. If you are considering a lower body lift - this procedure (LBL) is also referred to as circumferential body lift = belt lipectomy. This procedure is essentially 3 procedures in one: extended tummy tuck + waist/lateral thigh lift + buttock lift. The buttock lift can also include buttock augmentation. The lateral thigh lift will help contour the lateral aspect of your thighs. The procedure can taken between 5-7 hours depending on the amount of tissue/skin that needs removal/treatment. For most patients who have lost massive weight, the usual first line of attack is a circumferential body lift. Most plastic surgeons refer to a body lift as a circumferential body lift = belt lipectomy = lower body lift. This procedure is essentially 3 procedures in one: extended tummy tuck + waist/lateral thigh lift + buttock lift (with the option of buttock augmentation). This Buttock augmentation is different and not the same as a BBL. A physical exam would be needed to make any recommendations. A lower body lift and and a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) can be performed together. A body lift is basically a tummy tuck that wraps all the way around the body into the hips and buttocks. A BBL is a fat transfer into the buttocks to make them more full. Please see a board certified plastic surgeon to help with the planning of this procedure.
Hello and thank you for your question. Typically NO. Why I say typically is because a lower body lift is mainly performed in patients with laxity of the buttock and outside thigh skin. A bbl can and should only be done in someone with a flat or somewhat flat buttock that has reasonable skin tone. When a lower body lift is done the buttocks are then usually (in my hands always) augmented with a skin fat flap. In fact I also have conceived and preform an hip flap when doing lower body lifts to prevent the typical masculinization that occurs when doing these procedures. Peter Fisher M.D.
Thank you for your question. In general these procedures are not covered. Occasionally panes removal can be covered(excess lower abdominal skin). Please se a board certified PS for evaluation
Thank you for your question. Congratulations on your successful weight loss. In my experience, a body lift is never covered by insurance. If deemed medically necessary, some insurance companies will cover a panniculectomy on a case by case basis, but at no time an abdominoplasty. This is great...
Thank you for your question regarding whether driving after a lower body lift can widen scars. In the early stages of recovery, activities that involve stretching or placing tension on your incision sites, such as getting in and out of a car, could potentially impact your healing process. Scar...
