How bad of scar will lazer leave my mole. (photos)

Question

The mole is about the size of a quarter but oval. I believe there is a big root in the mole and it is said to might grow back. Also I'm afraid because it is on the side of my butt that the scar might stretch or wrinkle when healing.

Thank you for your question and for sharing your photographs.  Though each physician is different in their management of patients, I would be a greater advocate of surgically removing the mole leaving you with a short incision instead of lasering.  Removal would allow pathological analysis of the mole, although it looks benign.  Hope this helps.

In general I do not use laser for moles such as this.  Laser is unlikely to remove the mole completely and can leave scarring.  Surgical excision accomplishes complete removal of the mole and allows for the mole to be examined under the microscope.  Surgical excision will of course leave a scar.  I would recommend that you make an appointment with a dermatologist or plastic surgeon.Regards,Dr. Ort
