I am 18 and all my other friends have at least something sticking out a little. It seems as if I don't have nipples at all. Am I underdeveloped or inverted? What can I do to make them normal?
Answer: Inverted nipple correction at age 18 Thanks for your question. Your nipple does appear to be slightly inverted. This can be surgically corrected. However, if you have any desire to have children and to breast feed in the future having nipple surgery can decrease your chances of being able to successfully breast feed. If you were a patient in my practice I would encourage you to wait on surgery. Best of luck to you!

Answer: Inverted Nipple Thank you for your question.Based on the picture, your nipple appears to be at least partially inverted. It's actually a fairly common problem, and not one that's talked about often. Does the nipple appear that way all the time, or are you able to "pop it out"? These are the questions your board certified plastic surgeon will ask you. There is a simple correction if your surgeon feels it's likely to improve your appearance. There is always a discussion regarding ability to breast feed. Based on your nipple development and position, you may not be able to breast feed anyway. Alternatively, you may be able to breast feed now but may not after inverted nipple correction surgery. It's best to decide how important your appearance is to you vs. the importance of breast feeding any potential future children, and decide on the timing of surgery accordingly. Best of luck!

Answer: Are my breast inverted or underdeveloped? Appear underdeveloped-you are young give them time to develop with breast growth.Do Not consider nipple eversion surgery-scarring can be bad and can interfere with nursing later on. Implants later after full development may help.

Answer: Flattened nipple mounds can be fixed surgically Hi aathas. Thank you for sharing your photos. The nipple mound appears flattened. Fillers will provide only temporary changes. A local rearranging of tissues can be done easily under local anesthesia, little downtime, absorbable sutures, etc.. There are different techniques necessary depending upon whether the nipple mound ever becomes erect (i.e. is it tethered constantly), so be sure to have an in-person consultation by an ABPS certified plastic surgeon. Good luck!

Answer: Inverted nipples Thank you for your question, and I would encourage you not to let this bother you. Yes, you may have a very mild case of nipple inversion. If you don't have any symptoms (pain, drainage, unusual firmness or masses, or redness), then it is likely harmless. The function of the nipple should also be normal. There are procedures to help this, but risks are loss of sensation and loss of ability for breast feeding. You should bring this up w/ your OB/GYN at your next visit. Best wishes.
