Taping the tip is done to reduce swelling and is unlikely to prevent the tip from dropping. After rhinoplasty the tip often drops back down to where it was previously unless sir if iv things are done during surgery to prevent it

Thank you for your question. You are an excellent candidate for rhinoplasty. I would also recommend a small chin implant. I think rhinoplasty is one of the most beautifying surgeries that we do as plastic surgeons. To answer your question, it takes approximately 3 to 4 months for the skin envelope to remodel to the underlying bony-cartilaginous framework. During this time, I use night taping and also a device called Noseperfect. A large portion of my practice is dedicated to rhinoplasty surgery. It is important to only see plastic surgeons with extensive experience in rhinoplasty, ie perform at least 6 per month and have performed hundreds of cases. Also, critically evaluate on-line galleries to see if their art form resonates with yours. Rhinoplasty is definitely a grey haired plastic surgeon's sport. Best wishes to you.

We remove nasal taping 1 week postoperative, and we do not suggest our patients keep their noses taped - at all. I am not aware of any research to support better outcomes after rhinoplasty when routine nasal taping is recommended. This is the opinion of one rhinoplasty specialist after 23 years experience.
